Known as the ‘Paris of the East’, Shanghai is China’s largest city with futuristic skyscrapers and a fascinating heritage. Spilt into two sections by the Huangpu River, it’s an eclectic mix of historic splendour and progressive modernism with plenty of sights and sounds to intrigue! The Bund is Shanghai’s most famous landmark – a place where fortunes were once made and lost. Today, it houses a plethora of shops, bars and restaurants and has a lively, infectious buzz. The main shopping centre is on Nanjing Road, although Huaihai Road with its up-scale boutiques and Shanxi Nanlu with its shoe shops are also worth checking out! For cultural buffs, the Shanghai Museum boasts many ancient treasures and visitors are made welcome at the Jade Buddha Temple.
