The hotel

One of the hallmarks of any holiday in Barbados is a night at Oistins’ famous Fish Fry – and you are just a stroll from all the action (and a short drive from lively St Lawrence Gap for other nights out). Enjoy direct access to two fabulous white powder beaches laid out either side by of this seafront hotel. The iridescent blue waters of the Caribbean may be tempting, but you can also take a dip in the freshwater swimming pools – or head up to the raised circular patio for a soak in its trio of waterfront whirlpools or relax on the ample sunning areas with loungers and umbrellas. The sea views steal the show at The Reef Bar & Grill too, with its new seaside deck providing the perfect backdrop for Caribbean dishes, and for its weekly rum punch parties and barbecues accompanied by steel pan sounds. You can see why the Butterfly Beach Hotel is a great value for money resort in Barbados and a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice award winner.

A massive shout out to John, Karen and Tashara. They is better locations on the island but you pay the hefty price tag! It is very easy to access places by using the reggae buses, electric bus or just the standard bus. Walking distance to the supermarket or to oistins. You have beautiful beaches either side of the hotel - these are a little bit more rougher so you can travel further up the island for calmer seas. I have been to this hotel numerous times, and when speaking to other people they have done the same! Tried to book the hotel for new year, and it's completely fully booked, and so is January - May! So I think that speaks volumes it self. Read less

Good family friendly hotel with a nice pool and on the beach. Not safe to swim in the sea here - very rough and rips. Good customer service and easy to get bus and taxi. Held bags on check out and allowed us to use showers for our later flight. Bar staff friendly but slow.

I was apprehensive about booking this because of the huge variance in reviews, even recent ones. Happy to report that overall we thought this was an excellent value hotel, that we would recommend - with a couple of caveats. Two pools and a beach each side (accessible at low-tide) meant there was plenty of room for everyone and we didn't encounter any surly staff that others report, most were very friendly. We were in the cheapest room type (no kitchenette) but still had an incredible view out to the sea. Other pros: Oistins fish fry, dover beach and St Lawrence Gap are walkable, otherwise buses from right outside hotel. Happy hour rum punches go down well, beds comfy. Cons: cleaning could be a little more thorough, we were often asked what we wanted cleaned specifically, rather than a standard full service. It's not really for me to list things I want cleaned. This wasn't a deal-breaker though. Read less

Great location, fantastic beach! We did a lot of research before we came as we wanted to explore as much as possible. The hotel itself is in a great position with a 1km walk to Oistins so you can enjoy the delights of the fish fry. Or jump on the reggae , reggae bus for 3.50 Barbadian dollars. Within the 1km is a great restaurant called the Surfers Cafe that had a hidden jewel at the back of wonderful view and natural aircon from the sea. There is also a Masseys supermarket great for getting your drinks , snacks and food for your stay. We stayed in a room with a sea view that was a bit tired , the toilet was noisy , the aircon didn’t work well and the curtains kept no sunlight out at all . When we booked this hotel we knew it wasn’t 4star . If you are fussy this isn’t for you but the view, the beach and people make up for the tired looking rooms (that you only sleep in) . We will definitely be back ☺️ Read less
