I desperately wanted to award a 5* review as the staff are so wonderful - warm, welcoming and just lovely people. The hotel itself is attractive, comfortable and well-run and overall we had an excellent holiday. I've sadly deducted a star for the following reasons. Firstly, the beach area is more suited to surfing and the sea is usually too rough for swimming. Of course, the hotel has no control over this but one of the 2 swimming pools is more ornamental than ideal for swimming and both pools are only 3ft 6ins deep and so are again not ideal for adult swimming. The hotel does have an agreement with a beach club just a mile up the coast where guests can spend 5 hours on a truly calm and beautiful Caribbean Sea beach. We wish we'd made more of this facility. Secondly, we found the food options were disappointingly unimaginative. The hotel has 3 restaurants, one of which opens only 3 evenings a week. Most meals are shared between the other 2 restaurants but for most meals the options were chicken or grilled fish plus either a lamb or pork dish accompanied by rice, mac & cheese and steamed mixed veg. Everything was perfectly edible but just a bit samey and sometimes I found myself eating the same for lunch and dinner. Chris' excellent huge homemade burgers at lunchtime were a welcome alternative and normally we never eat burgers!! Finally I would warn that there are lots of stairs from ground floor to Reception and the main restaurant and quite a few trips hazards around the grounds. These could be an issue for those less fit. Back to the staff though. The service levels and friendliness here are the best we've experienced anywhere and they more than make up for any negatives. A huge thank you to them all. Read less

Straight out of the brochure. We’re living the dream! The hotel is not too big and not too small. The food is delicious and there’s more rum than you can shake a cocktail stick at.

Barbados is full over overpriced luxury hotels in difficult to reach locations (meaning: you have to hire a car) sitting on stunning beaches and offering top notch food. The Savannah Beach Club, on the other hand, is reasonably priced, easy to reach, sits on a reasonable beach and offers good buffet / a la carte included. I found it perfect for my needs, but it’s certainly not at the ‘top end’ of what the island has to offer. My room was great - generous size overall with large bed, large shower, fridge and private terrace. WiFi and room safe good. Buffet breakfast and lunch both good, waitress service three course supper with included drinks (e.g. beer or basic level wines) same. Lunch and supper both included some unexpectedly downmarket ‘entertainment’ I could have done without (win a bottle of rum, take part in karaoke over your meal …). On the plus side: outsiders are allowed to eat here so if you have friends staying elsewhere on the island they can join you here (unlike Sandals along the road where my friends were staying). Quite a lot of stairs to negotiate - fine unless you can’t (so if you have trouble with stairs, go elsewhere). Located within walking distance of Bridgetown (just), almost next to George Washington House. The hotel beach is OK (as is the pool) but if you want a perfect stretch of sand hire a car or take a taxi or a bus somewhere up the west coast. There’s plenty available with public access. No late checkout in general but if your plane leaves late they’ll let you use a room for half an hour to shower and change later in the afternoon before leaving. Overall I can recommend. Read less
