One of the best experiences I have ever received at a hotel & I travel a ton for work. Story time: after a late night out, and coming back to the hotel needing Carbs, we stopped at a vending machine that was out of order. As we had accepted our Defeat for the night, and down in the dumps, your amazing hotel Engineer Scott walked out of the maintenance door, as if he was our guardian angel. Scott, with the 20+ years of experience he has at this hotel, he began to troubleshoot (Turned off and back on) When this didn’t seem to correct the issue, and Scott “The Engineer” saw the look of anguish and dismay on our faces, he sprung into action, like our superhero. Scott said to us, do not be sad my friends, I have another Option! At this point he took us through a secret passageway, as if we were on our way to Narnia, through a hidden passage. During this venture he continued to give us the history of the hotel, and how amazing the staff here is. Once we arrived at the destination, and acquired our good, he then returned us to our original point of interaction. I need to say that, Scott- “ your friendly neighborhood Engineer “went above and beyond, in order to hold to the customer standards, and guiding me and my friends to another location. which was far beyond his responsibilities, and hands down the Best experience I have ever received from a hotel. We stayed here one night for our anniversary and here's what we thought... Location - excellent. Just off the beach and a 5-10 minute walk to all the cute bars, restaurants, and shops on Main Street in Huntington. Restaurants - there is a Cabo Wabo (which we tried and thought was grossly overpriced and not especially good), a little market with some cold snacks (you also get a $5 discount off $10 as part of your $35 resort fee), and Henry's which is a higher end restaurant that was not open for breakfast. Not a lot of choices so I recommend walking to Main and eating at the restaurants there. Longboards for breakfast is affordable and good. There's also a top floor bar with a nice patio and a limited menu with live music (best choice if you don't have kids). Parking - valet only. $50/night. They give you a card with a QR code to scan before you come down, but when I tried using it, I got a text back that they were too busy and I needed to come down anyway. When I got down there, there were only two people waiting for their cars so not sure why they have that system if they don't actually use it. Rooms - nice and big. The way the hotel is laid out, almost all of them have a partial view. The first level suites have a little patio with patio tables for four and easy access to the pool. The ocean-view suites have long narrow patios with chairs. Ours was a partial view with two patio chairs and a table overlooking the pool. There was a wet bar with a wine opener, mini-fridge, makeup table, love seat and small table, and plenty of storage space. In the closet, you'll find robes to use, flip flops to buy (cheap plastic ones for $10 and XL only, but hey, if you want to go to the beach and forgot yours, it's convenient), an ironing board and a safe. Cleanliness- not as good as I expected from this level of hotel. There were two hairs in our bathroom and I always figure if they didn't mop up the hairs, what else did they not do? Pool and jacuzzi - two pools and two jacuzzis. It was too cold for us to swim even though the pool was heated and the jacuzzi was full (I mean full) of children and their water wings warming up so we didn't use that either. The pool is great for kids with two little slides, but not ideal if you're an adult that doesn't like swimming in a pool where kids tend to pee. There are also cabanas for rent and loungers ( a few have umbrellas but most don't). You can pay for access to the beach club area where there are more loungers with umbrellas and a fire pit. There's also a bar conviently located near the pool. Pool hours, according to the sign are from 10am - 7pm. Overall, it's a great option in Huntington. There is also a Hyatt next door and a Pasea Hotel on the other side. If you forgot something, there's a Walmart that's about a six minute drive inland and of course all the little stores on Main.
