The hotel

Although it’s reopened with a new look, feel, and name, The Beacon Grand doesn’t want to ignore it’s past completely. The hotel pays a nod to the past, and homage to history of the city, with it’s original architechtual details – and it remains a social hotspot in the heart of Union Square. You’re in the centre of it all here, shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue is right opposite, the famous Powell Street Cable Car trundles right past the door of the hotel, and you’re right on the steps of the Theatre District – where will you start?! Well if you're not sure the 'Social Hosts' are on hand to give you insider tips. The rooms offer high ceilings and signature design, with a gel foam mattress that’ll ensure you have no problem getting to sleep. Beacon lounge is the heart of the hotel, acting as a communal living room by day and a lively gathering spot by night. Enjoy a whiskey or cocktail with live music at the weekends. Or if you fancy something a bit more exclusive, you’re one secret door away from the Hidden Library where vintage bourbons and classic cocktails are serviced just to your taste. It’s an iconic hotel that you can’t miss with the glistening of a rooftop star – so make sure you don’t miss out on seeing the inside too.

Beautiful old (but completely tastefully renovated) half a block from Union Square. Rooms quite nice, bar drinks and scene upscale and fun. Absolutely stunned by how good the food/menu was-there is a chef as passionate and talented as any other in the City-star(s) or no star!

The ambiance is amazing, and the hotel is gorgeous! You will not be disappointed in the vaulted ceilings and vintage features in this historic building. The lobby bar Post Room has a stunning high ceiling, fireplace, paneling, and features live piano music. The drinks are excellent and the bartender Edwin was engaging and personable. The hotel rooms feature a very comfortable king size bed and have ample room, even in a standard. My only suggestion might be earplugs if street noise is bothersome. I actually enjoy the trolley dings, but my husband does not. The hotel staff was welcoming and helpful. You can text with the hosts to ask questions or make requests during your stay. Every employee we encountered was friendly, offered suggestions of things to do in the area, and helped to facilitate transportation as needed. Read less

The Hotel has been updated and looks great. The location is central to trolley line and allows easy walking distance almost anywhere. The staff was great and accommodated any little need (extra pillow, soap dispenser being locked). The hotel is a little more adult focused for food and dining (regarding the bars, high tea and StarLite room), but… Read more

Save your money. Don't go there. It only looks nice in the pictures. Not clean, noisy , the staff at night is horrible(if they don't sleep during their shift)
