The hotel

If you're going to do a Californian road trip, you might as well do it in style right? And staying in an iconic air stream would fit that bill for sure. Think of it as camping, but still with a nice warm shower and a comfy bed to sleep in - oh and a fully functional kitchenette so you can whip up a storm and enjoy it out on your private deck. There's also a lovely pool to enjoy and weekly activities incuding yoga and live music, and if you don't fancy cooking each night - The Kitchen is on hand for you to grab a bite to eat or a nice glass of wine (after all, we are in California). Most importantly of all though, this is a great base for visiting Yosemite National Park. You're just 26 miles from Yosemite National Park's Arch Rock Entrance Station, so you can easily take a dip in the Merced River, chase waterfalls through Yosemite Valley, or explore the historic town of Mariposa.

The cons outweigh the pros here. Pros: airstreams are nice and clean, bath amenities are good quality, bed is super comfortable, the outdoor seating and table is good quality, I liked the privacy of the shrubs along the pond, I liked how close it was to town and it was 40 minutes from Yosemite. Cons: I booked the premium airstream suite because it looks like you get more privacy via the pictures on the website and online it says it’s ideal for romantic getaways. However, I could hear the people next to me talking and burping. I uploaded pictures of what the website posts and then my two pictures I took that show how close you actually are! Firewood is not included and is $20 for a bundle, this should come with your stay! You cannot park in front or near the airstream. Parking is by the clubhouse and use must carry your belongings across the pond or use the small carts. Basic amenities like dental kits or shaving kits are not available. I’ve traveled all over, even at places that are comparable and this has always been provided when requested. Definitely a place that nickels and dimes you and is WAY over priced for what it is. I stayed at a camp resort that had airstreams with several gourmet restaurants, a full spa, boat rentals, a gift shop and more and it was under $200 a night (camp long creek of big cedar lodge). Paying over $400 a night plus an amenity fee is not worth it here. If you’ll be cooking, just know they only provide a cast iron pan, no pots. The fridge works a little too good, I bought over $120 in groceries at the pioneer market in town and the next morning my eggs and meats were frozen! The mini market in the clubhouse is expensive. I forgot aluminum foil and ending up paying $10 here. Also, housekeeping is not provided during your stay, unless you pay extra. Paper towels provided are very thin and cheap so you run out relatively soon. Read less

In theory, this is a very cool concept! It feels like an upscale rustic experience which I think people are looking for when they travel to national parks, and want to be comfortable in nature. Traveling alone with 3 young kids, I was hopeful this would give my kids a unique experience while providing me with a little additional support/cushion during what I expected to be a fun but overwhelming trip. I have no complaints about the airstream itself. It's outfitted well, comfortable, and met my expectations. However, the service and how things were handled was not the customer service I was expecting from a place that in total comes to about $500 a night. We went to use our shower our first night, and we noticed a large ball of dirty hair, on the shower floor. I immediately went to the front desk, who assured me they would take care of it immediately I kept my kids playing in the lobby area and waited about 45 min to return to our airstream. When we did return, and checked the bathroom it was clear nobody had been there to clean. I called the front desk (also not easy to reach, you need to go through the main customer service of AutoCamp who will then transfer you to the Joshua Tree location). They didn't know why the shower hadn't been cleaned but assured me they would send someone again. About 20 min later someone did show up and cleaned the shower. However, I was surprised when nobody from management followed up with me to apologize or confirm that things had been taken care of. And frankly, had expected some kind of apology whether in the form of monetary compensation or perhaps a meal on the house. As many people have posted, they are short-staffed. The menu in "The Kitchen" their restaurant, advertised fresh, local, and yummy food. I was disappointed when the pizza they served was a frozen pizza they had defrosted, and the avocado on the avocado toast, was not fresh avocado, but the store brought processed kind that comes in a plastic tub. This was surprising to me, since the food was advertised as local and fresh and from an upscale place this was quite shocking. I think given the price it makes more sense to stay at an Airbnb, because the added benefits you are paying for, that of a "resort," (food on sight, and customer service) fall short. Read less

The Airstream was clean, felt safe, and held very up well. The hot shower was refreshing. All amenities as described on the website were available. Our early arrival was not a problem at all, and the staff was friendly and welcoming all throughout. Shared trash binds were regularly emptied. Note that the electric vehicle charging station was always full. Parking can be very far from your unit, so pull wagon-carts are provided if you have a lot of stuff. The camp is an hour's drive to the Yosemite National Park's Visitor Center. Read less

This is our first time coming to Autocamp. Everything is good but not the best. With the price, I hope it could be a little better. We stayed in the basic Airstream. This is our first time coming to Autocamp. Everything is good but not the best. With the price, I hope it could be a little better. We stayed in the basic Airstream. It says Airstream fits 4 people, which I think is a little too small. The sofa bed can't really fit two adults. It will fit 2 adults + 2 kids or 3 adults. If you are paying this much, you would expect to be able to sleep more comfortably instead of cramping together. Everything is good inside the Airstream but you can see some wear and tear. There are 3 different air control systems in the Airstream. All of them are very noise. There are 2 heater vents. One is right next to the entrace and the other one is next to the master bedroom door. Just turn the knob, and the heater will turn on. Another heater/AC is mounted right on top of the sofa bed and we found 2 remote controls and each remote control will show different setting which is confusing. The 3rd AC/heating systme is on the ceiling with the control next to the kitchen sink. This systme is extremely loud. The bathroom is pretty big for a RV but the water pressure is not great. Also, hot water runs out after 2 showers. You will have to wait a good 30 mins before the water is hot enough. I guess if the weather is hot, this shouldn't be a problem. We didn't know this on our first night, which was rainy and cold. Two of us need to shower with warm-ish water on a cold rainy day. Personally, I think its a little horrible experience. Autocamp does not provide toothbrush. You will need to purchase it at the clubhouse or bring your own. The blanket they provide is thin. I would recommend bringing sleeping bags as a backup. Their pillow is not comfortable at all. One of the pillows stored under the sofa bed had some strange oily smell. Maybe the smell is from the storage bag under the sofa bed? There are no USB ports to charge your devices. You will need to bring your own regular plug to charge. You cannot cook inside the Airstream. You will need to do all the cooking outside. Either you bring your own grill or burner or you can use their fire pit that is right outside of the Airstream. Chopping boards, tongs, opener, grill brush, iron casket are all provided. The chopping board in our Airstream is over used. Totally recommending them to replace it. There is a small refrigerator and two small foldable tables in the closet. Clubhouse also sells charcoal and firewood. While we are there, it was raining and cold and they do not provide anything to cover you while you are cooking outside. You will have to cook unde the rain. I find this very inconvenient. When they are advertising the site as a luxury glamping, they should provide amenities where you don't get soaked while cooking outdoor. Otherwise, I might be better off just rent a RV myself and camp at a camp ground. The rental RV might have awning to prevent me from getting wet. Also, it is extremely hard to eat inside Airstream with 4 people; its very small. I see people bringing their own canopy to cook and eat outside so they dont get wet. The Airstreams are a little closer to each other. I see some reviews saying there is no privacy but I think its not too bad but it would be better if they could separate the airstreams a little more. There are a lot of cats running around. I'm not sure if the cats are stray cats or someone's pet. We see some wild turkeys running between the Airstream, which is interesting. Clubhouse offers free yoga class in the morning. I don't have an EV but I do see EV chargers onsite near the clubhouse (maybe 4 or 5 chargers). I also see a Tesla charging site in Mariposa near a local supermarket called Pioneer. The supermarket is around 10 mins drive from Autocamp. This supermarket is actually pretty big where you can also buy charcoal, fire logs, or any of your bbq/cooking needs. Overall, we had some fun but not the best experience as what I was hoping for per their advertisement. Would I go back to try it one more time? I'm not sure yet, but if I do go back to Autocamp, I might book a cabin and see if the experience would be better. Read less

Throughout our stay the staff were brusk and unhelpful, without one offer of assistance for my partner who was on crutches post-surgery at the time of our visit despite a seemingly neverending buggy carousel lapping the grounds. The Airstream itself is fine, though visibly tired now with water damage to the floor outside the bathroom and a less-than-healthy looking extractor vent alongside other signs of wear and tear. We'd have been willing to look past most of this and chalk our experience down as 'OK' if it wasn't for the post-checkout experience. Good luck ever retrieving any lost property if you happen to forget anything at Autocamp; the automated lost property system isn't worth the code its written on and the front desk email address is now totally uncommunicative. 'Not my problem' seemed to be the mantra during and after our stay which is a far cry from the luxury experience promised Read less
