Tivoli Lodge

Vail, Colorado

Virgin rating

The hotel

Combining modern architecture with the feel of a mountain lodge, the Tivoli is a firm favourite with skiers. Warm in atmosphere with great service from attentive staff, it also enjoys unobstructed views of the Vail’s Golden Peak ski area. Guest rooms are spacious and impeccably-appointed with the finest linens and large soaking tubs – much appreciated after a busy day on the mountain! There are also two hot tubs to stake your place in, both with mountain views, the perfect way to relax and unwind. Breakfast is a delight at the Tivoli, complete with an omelette station and house specialities such as French toast and buttermilk biscuits. Come sundown, there’s the Brown Hound Lounge with overstuffed chairs, leather sofas and towering views of the mountain. A wonderful place for a spot of après-ski, try a signature Indini cocktail, inspired by former mascot Indy, the chocolate Labrador for whom the name is lounged – yep, you guessed it, it has a chocolate theme!

We did the prepaid payment. Out stay would be during slack time. 3 days prior to arrival, I became very sick and had to cancel (called right away). I understand the no refund policy, but thought a sudden sickness would at least be reasonable for a partial refund. I now believe that only would happen if they really cared about their customers. … Read more

Marjorie (?) checked us in. We had Reserved tower king room w/ mountain view; were given 2nd story room facing general direction of mountains but view was street signs, street, homes/buildings. Marjorie told us we could not move to higher floor because they were all sold out. Offered another room of mountain room with fireplace. With no initial viewing and no photo available, we were given time to think about it while she finished call with AT&T(?). When she hung up on them she took another call immediately. We waited again. We needed to be able to talk to her without interruption. She finally asked if we decided and I said ‘no, how could we when the first room was misrepresented and we had no idea of what the second room was. She took us to see the second room which was adequate given our circumstances of no refundable prepayment. Our reserved room had two club chairs and a table and two chairs. New room had one chair. No table… both rooms had bar stools. Essentially there was no place to sit and enjoy the adequate view from floor 4. This was the off season. We booked with that in mind as we wanted a quiet weekend for hiking and reading. The chairs with a view were important to our plans and relaxation. Noted inadequacies included: - [ ] Fireplace - very dirty glass, inadequate flame, peeling paint, required being within 18” to feel warmth after it had gotten warmed up. (Photo) - [ ] Sheets - tissue paper thin with hole. Never changed over three night stay. (My experience has been for sheets to be changed every other day. (Photo) - [ ] Robes - worn to a fray (photo) - [ ] Bicycles reported to be part of amenities and included in resort fee - none available - being updated per Marjorie - [ ] Coffee and tea offered in room for two people included 2 coffee pod , 1 decaf coffee and 1 tea. 4 small creamers provided. Sign said additional coffee available at $1/each…. - [ ] Went down for coffee in lobby to bring back to room - discovered elevator is out and had to carry 2 cups up the stairs to the 4th floor - might’ve been closer to being worth it if it was a bigger cup!!! - [ ] Elevator out of order 2 of 3 mornings. (Photo) - [ ] No water in room upon check-in. Was able to retrieve 2 bottles upon inquiry. Next day two provided with refresh of room - [ ] Christmas decor still up for Mother’s Day weekend. (Photo) - [ ] Breakfast buffet was plentiful for the limited guests. All in steam trays - 4 eggs were poached and dry sitting in something; scrambled eggs were very dry. Miscellaneous breakfast meats and 4 pre-made pancakes in steam tray. The rest was typical family hotel breakfast foods. We had been looking forward to our stay at the Lazier family hotel. We were fans of Buddy as a driver. We really appreciated the family love and closeness and that this has not been converted to a chain. However, this is just a tired old inn. No pride and no respect. We do not recommend this hotel. Of all our experiences in Vail, this was the worst. Read less

My son forgot a ski jacket in his room. I've already sent a message to the hotel but no one has replied to me yet. In addition, the hotel had no breakfast option, no open bar and no room service. It was the last weekend of the reverse station, there were few employees.

My brother and our 93 year old mother truly enjoyed our stay at the Tivoli Lodge. Its location was great and the staff were very friendly. All for a reasonable room rate. I highly recommend staying at the Tivoli Lodge.

Great service and delicious cocktails. The location is perfect. It is very close to the gondola one. The only problem is the parking is too small
