The Westin Peachtree Plaza

Atlanta, Georgia

Virgin rating

The hotel

A statement hotel, this glass column stretches far above neighbouring high rises to give unrivalled views over Atlanta through its floor-to-ceiling windows. To top it all off, literally, it’s capped with The Sun Dial, a three-tiered venue featuring a revolving restaurant, rotating cocktail lounge, and observatory floor with 360-degree views, all reached by an external glass elevator that scales the glazed cylinder in just 85 seconds. Far below, on the 11th floor, the indoor pool’s just as spectacular, with its curved glass roof folding away to let in the sun on hot Atlanta days. To celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2016, the Westin Peachtree Plaza was treated to a $70 million renovation, adding extras like BikeWESTIN cycles, and turning this statuesque pillar into one of downtown Atlanta’s most up-to-date pads.

Needs upgrading and more staff. The room we stayed in had furniture that needed to be replaced, torn carpet, and stained ceilings - not what you expect from Westin/Marriott properties. Took 45 minutes to check in due to the long line and apparent staffing issues. And, in the morning, if you want a cup of coffee from the Starbucks in the lobby,… Read more

Took 45 minutes to check in due to the long line and apparent staffing issues. And, in the morning, if you want a cup of coffee from the Starbucks in the lobby, plan on waiting 30 minutes in that line as well. Would not recommend staying here. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating OK, price matches the quality

I was excited to visit this hotel since I found the location perfect and the price right. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed with my room, which felt worn out and had a slight odor. You get what you pay for, so I didn't complain at checkout. People should expect enough comfort for a quick stay only.

My wife booked this stay for monster jam with our young kid since all the hotels near monster jam were a similar price. The idea was that being in the middle of the city with restaurants nearby would be nice. My wife booked this stay for monster jam with our young kid since all the hotels near monster jam were a similar price. The idea was that being in the middle of the city with restaurants nearby would be nice. I was looking at some of the reviews beforehand and was curious what I’d see with seemingly lots of great reviews and several negative. My take after staying there a night is that it meets expectations and is fine/good. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the check-in receptionist friendly, shower nice, etc. For the price/location, I think overall it’s pretty fair. Keep in mind the valet parking was another $60, but I can kind of see why with all the valets they had running back and forth. Breakfast was fine/good, not great. I will say relating to something that this hotel can’t control but is part of the reason people book it and this relates to its location. It might just be me but the area felt a little dead from what I had experienced (esp for a Sat night) in years past. Again maybe it was just me getting older or something or an anomaly. The hotel can’t control this but just an observation. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Worn Convention hotel with spectacular view

Apr 13, 2024 M S Carmel, California

It’s a convention hotel, that has seen better days. The only thing going for it, are the views. I had a very high room and the views were spectacular. My bathroom was tiny, maybe because it’s a circular hotel. Food from room service was average, service from staff was average to disappointing, from front desk, bar to bellman. And the room was… Read more

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Small rooms and an even smaller bathroom

Apr 12, 2024 KayseyRay Fort Worth, Texas

The rooms are small and the bathrooms are even smaller. As a solo traveler this was not an issue, however, if I was traveling with my family this would have been a deal breaker. The breakfast buffet was over priced and sub par in comparison to the Signia Hotel (go there instead). The employees were great and super attentive.
