A great solid hotel. Not our 1st time in NOLA and therefore decided to stay in a Riverview Room. Wow. I had no idea that such a room existed. Over the years, I've stayed here and also had to come here to buy hop on hop off bus tickets. the lobby has been redone. Nowadays I get M Club access and the food is nice. The lounge is kept clean and the people's discards picked up quickly. The staff has that southern hospitality. It's an older hotel. I'm reading the other reviews since April 2024. My bathroom has been remodeled. And I'm enjoying my view of the French Quarters and the Mississippi. Read less

I decided to stay here because i was attending an event it the hotel. A friend stayed elsewhere and wash able to get upgrades to suites. I couldn't use mine here. I actually fell in the bathroom because there was cleaning liquid on the floor. My room wasn't serviced and i called to ask for fresh towels and put mine outside the door as i needed a… Read more

I actually fell in the bathroom because there was cleaning liquid on the floor. My room wasn't serviced and i called to ask for fresh towels and put mine outside the door as i needed a nap. Towels were picked up but none left. Fortunately i had a small one left. The location was close to other places to visit. The breakfast was very good with an omelet bar and great grits. Read less

We arrived on April 14, 2024, and checked out on April 20, 2024. Check in was efficient and the counter person was very friendly. We had a river facing room that also overlooked Canal Street. The room was clean and well-appointed with ample space to work and / or relax. The internet worked well with enough speed to stream videos. There were a couple of negatives. First was the bathroom. It was tiny with only 1 person being able to be in there at a time. You could have two people in there if one person was taking a shower, however the lack of an exhaust fan made the mirror useless quickly. This shower had some of the hottest water we have ever experienced while traveling, so be careful. The other negative was the noise that comes from Canal Street. Even on the 21st floor it was loud. Cars, sirens over revving motorcycles are available to listen to well into the night. We would recommend a room not facing Canal Street. This was an overall good stay, and we would stay here again. Never seen a Marriott so terrible. Normally they are fine and really nice. I have been to motels far nicer than this. The room appears to be from the 1990s or early 2000s. There are hardly any outlets. The room has a strange perfume/cleaning smell. The carpet is really old as is the bathroom. There is a rusted bottle opener. The ceiling… Read more

Even the coffee maker and hair dryer are from decades ago. Marriott can do so much better. This was pretty shocking especially for a Marriott. Read less

I recently visited The Marriott New Orleans for a professional conference (in fact, I just checked out and am waiting on car to airport) and I can say that it is all that it purports to be: it’s a very large, very busy conference hotel. If you are comfortable and pleased with such a surrounding—and its types certainly have their place—you will be pleased with the Marriott New Orleans. The public areas, including conference rooms, lobby, and ballroom are precisely as they should be: large, appropriate media, and institutionally appointed. In other words, they accomplish what they sit out to do. The staff in all regards are helpful, friendly, and efficient. No worries there. This hotel has the largest sundry/snack/essentials shop (The Canal Street Pantry) I have ever seen. Generally, if you need it, they have it. I only ate at the hotel restaurant one morning for breakfast (you’re in New Orleans; you don’t need to—in fact you shouldn’t—eat in a hotel restaurant—and it was, like all else at this hotel—functional and what you would expect. The location can’t be beat. It is in the middle of Canal Street and within walking distance of the entire French Quarter, the Central Business District, and the River. One afternoon for a break I had a pleasant walk to the National WWII Museum, which is also easily reached directly down Magazine. There are a plethora of good restaurants nearby. The sleeping room is, again, like the hotel itself, a typical Marriott room. It’s good sized, has a good, not great, bed, and whatever amenities you need. The elevators are the new “dynamic floor” type which is difficult for some guests to figure out (the desk staff should do a better job explaining them; I had to help a number of new guests who arrived confused as to how they worked), but having been to this hotel at a meeting before are a huge improvement. They are more efficient and much quicker to catch. Read less
