A truly beautiful hotel and everyone on staff did their best to make our trip to New Orleans very memorable. We took advantage of the location on Bourbon Street, the dining options, the Jazz Playhouse, the patio and the services of Wayne, the concierge.

Had the best time with 6 of my dear friends/college roommates. Spent 3 night/4 days at this Wonderful Hotel with the perfect location, right on Bourbon Street. Can’t say enough about the terrific staff. Each and every staff person were friendly and so helpful. The hotel concierge, Wayne, saved us money and helped us find the best tours and shuttle services to and from everywhere. Restaurants INSIDE the hotel were so handy and served DELICIOUS local cuisine. You don’t have to go far to enjoy great Jazz music either as they have a Jazz club in the hotel as well. Our Well Appointed Super Clean rooms had comfy beds and great balconies. I highly recommend this hotel!!

Best valet in the city!

Joe the Valet guy is the absolute best around! Very efficient and happy — He does his job well and with a smile! We enjoyed our interactions with him each day ! 😁 Hotel is great in the middle of all of the action but also quiet enough to sleep well!!
Be careful, misrepresented room!

I called the hotel directly to make sure I was booking the room I was expecting, a room with a balcony over Bourbon Street. I booked online while on the phone with a representative who verbally confirmed my expectations. When I arrived, I was given a 'corner balcony' room that was not on Bourbon Street, not on a corner, and had a view of only rooftops. In short, I paid a premium for a room that was not the room I was told I booked. I asked for price consideration and never heard back from the manager. I also did not get the daily drink and breakfast vouchers when I arrived and had to remind them twice to get them. I will not return.

We spent 6 nights at the Royal Sonesta last week. We originally chose the hotel because it was touted as a luxury hotel and yet right on Bourbon Street. The hotel was decent but not luxurious.
The Good: Nice lobby, very friendly staff (except one surly pool bartender), central location, and good food.
The Bad: When we first arrived to our room and took our shoes off, the carpet was soaking wet as if it had just been shampooed. There weren't enough towels or pillows and the pillows were very flat. We had two queen beds and one was soft with a big dip in the middle while the other was a bit hard and lumpy. Even with the thermostat as low as it would go, the room was sometimes too warm at night and we were sweaty. The food was good but over priced and we even managed to spend $50 on water and chips at the coffee shop. The room was cleaned the first full day of our trip but after two days of housekeeping not cleaning the room, we put in a request for the room to be cleaned while we were out; several hours later, we came back to a dirty room again and had to hunt down a maid.
The Royal Sonesta has the potential to be a great hotel especially because of the kind staff, but it really missed the mark as a "luxurious" hotel in the oversight of guest comfort and in maintaining any sort of standards.
Bottom line: We'll be swtaying at a different hotel next time.
