Mauritius for the ‘peopled out’, we know
a little place...
The run up to holiday time for most of us involves many people demanding many
things in the last few days at the office. Virgin Holidays is delighted
to unveil a hidden gem where you’ll have to answer to no-one except the
bartender. Les Filaos is a small, authentically Mauritian hotel that
gives its guests the chance to see the simplicity of island life.
The
hotel is situated on the Western side of Mauritius in the quaint town of Grand
Baie. With 12 rooms, there’s no chance of bumping into more
than a dozen people. The hotel is quiet, relaxed, with all rooms boasting
sea views. Grand Baie is a short walk, where guests can experience shops
selling local produce, traditional Mauritian restaurants and live music.
Les
Filaos is a perfect hotel for those looking to soak up a real Mauritian cultural
experience. Port Louis, the capital, is a short bus ride offers shops
and a buzzing waterfront. Les Pamplemousses, Mauritius’ botanical
islands, are also located on the West of the island and feature giant water
lilies.
Virgin Atlantic begins direct service to Mauritius on the 28th October
2007, prices start from £949 for seven nights at Les Filaos based on
2 adults travelling and sharing a room on a bed & breakfast basis.
