Niagara Falls Marriott on the Falls

Niagara Falls, Canada

Virgin rating

The hotel

If you’re wanting to get the best up-close experience of Niagara Falls, then that’s exactly what the Marriott on the Falls will give you. When we say close-up, this is the nearest place to stay to those three famed Falls — Horseshoe, American and Bridal Veil. If you want to get even closer, you’re in the perfect spot to head out on a boat on the waters. But you don’t have to if you don’t want to, as the hotel has an observation deck, a restaurant where you can eat and admire the views, and rooms where you can open the curtains each morning to the sight of the spectacular rushing waters.

Good view of the falls if you pay for falls view room, even on lower floors. Good room size for our family of 4. Biggest issue was the lifts, waited 20 minutes on checkout morning and as we needed to get a booked coach ended up logging our bags down 5 flights of stairs. One lift was out of order. Reception didn’t seem interested. Not a great way… Read more

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Starbucks too expensive in Niagara

Aug 22, 2024 normandl870 Repentigny, Canada

While the service was alright, the price is way to high. I paid $42.50 for the same thing (2 tall cafe latte and 2 breakfast sandwiches) that costs $22.50 where I live. This is outrageous! As a chain, Starbucks should charge the same price everywhere in Canada

This hotel is poorly managed, terribly designed, and they completely misrepresent themselves. I say terribly designed, because there are only four elevators for the entire structure, which are shared by the service workers. I cannot tell you how many times I was waiting for over five minutes for an elevator, and then an employee got off with a giant bin of laundry. Someone else would get on, and then just go one floor with their maid cart. There were times where people were waiting with their luggage but they couldn’t get on because of the giant rolling bin of laundry! Maid carts… Everything goes by before elevators for this entire hotel. It’s ridiculously inconvenient. Poorly managed, because they couldn’t figure out my reservation, couldn’t find my name because it’s Smith and they had too many Smiths, the check-in process took 30 minutes. Finally the manager had to come over who could solve it in one second. But why can’t their employees just do it right if it only took one second? Breakfast had poor quality foods. We paid $1000 a night for Fallsview 22nd floor rooms with the double glass window. Well, we couldn’t see the falls or the light show on the falls or the fireworks. All of that was blocked by the other Marriott, which is closer to the Falls! This is not the closest hotel to the Falls! All their photos online are ridiculously misleading. I would never ever stay here again, and I am so irritated that I couldn’t even see the falls the lights or the fireworks from our Fallsview room. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Excellent Hotel in quieter end of street, Great Falls view!

This was a great Falls view hotel in a quieter end of the street for Niagara Falls-which we liked. We stayed at the Embassy Suites more than 10 yrs ago and also had a Falls view hotel room. We stayed at this Marriott simply bc of Marriott points and we have a Marriott account, but if I were to compare the Falls view between these two- The Embassy one was a bit better for the view. Even though these two hotels are really not that far from each other the view from Embassy is much more direct over the water compared to this Marriott. (there is another Marriott next to Embassy Suites that may be similar in views compared to the Embassy...) Embassy Suites also had falls view windows in your room where the windows could crack open and you could literally hear the roar of the falls in your bed! This hotel at Marriott did not have windows that could open. Aside from the location and view that was offered from your room, this hotel was clean, friendly staff, parking was easy as it was on the property (with overflow one street behind). We felt safe walking around. You can't simply walk out to the Falls-FYI. you have to walk about 1mile and make a right down a street to literally get to the free public area views. If you choose to pay- you can take the Niagara Falls Incline Railway- it will cost a few dollars to go down directly to the Falls for a great view. This is actually immediately accessible if you stay at Embassy Suites....just have to walk .25 mile maybe (few hotels down) from this Marriott to get to it and then you don't have to walk the mile for the free public view. I mention the comparisons between the two hotels bc if you have elderly or handicapped members visiting with you- this is helpful info!! We spent tons of time walking. Ran a mile and half in the mornings for exercise along the walkway in front of the Falls. If you walk about a 1.5 miles from this hotel you can walk to the Clifton Hill Street district which is similar to like a mini Vegas- lots of shops, casino, lots and lots of people walking this street. You will go broke here- eating, drinking, and taking part in the "commercialized" part of Niagara Falls- haha. If you try to park and walk here- plan on paying about $20 to park and walk. Beautiful Fireworks are every night during the summer which we were able to enjoy from our hotel room one night, and also right in front of the Niagara Falls- where there are lots of grassy areas in addition to the path that walks along it. Food- did not eat at this hotel but there are options. We ate at Tim Horton's for coffee and bagels, sandwiches, donuts, and tried Beaver Tails (pastry known in Canada) as well as Poutine fries. Went to a nice Italian place also- with phenomenal pasta dishes-Napoli Restaurante and Pizzeria (as we were getting tired of fried foods and bar food). Excursions- Niagara Falls in 1 day- Tour of the American and Canadian side- was excellent. A bit pricey but it was worth it. Did Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, Skyline Tower, and see both sides of the Falls. They even pick you up in front of the hotel!. We drove from DC, and would do it again as it was a pretty easy and direct drive. Read less

I will NEVER stay at this place again. Upon arrival the room was cold, we mentioned this to the front counter and they sent a couple of guys to fix the problem. We drove over 3 hours to get there with a child with special needs. We were tired and had to wait for them to finish fixing the heating system. Another hotel would have immediately look for another available room for us. Once all was “fix” the system was so loud and it was still faulty. One of the guys had to come again to try to fix it once more. We did not have a good night sleep because of the noise. The next day, we figured we go to the pool however it was extremely cold. It was NOT an ideal temperature, especially for the winter months. We cancelled our second night right away and never came back. Read less
