The closest hotel to the Magic Kingdom Park is the height of retro, '70s cool. The monorail enters the lobby through a 'curtain' of air to drop off and pick up. The stylish, gourmet 15th-floor California Grill restaurant offers incredible bird's-eye views over the Magic Kingdom Park (perfect for the evening fireworks), or you can meet your favourite characters in Chef Mickey's Restaurant. If you're not at the park during the day, there's a big swimming pool, tennis courts and even the option of renting a boat and cruising around Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon - and come the end of the day, tired parents can revive themselves in the cocktail lounge.

Great location with modern amenities

We were early but our room was ready within 10 minutes. We stayed on the 14th floor in a Club Level one-bedroom suite. The room was enormous with a large living and dining space. There was a small kitchen area with a refrigerator and microwave. The bedroom had two queen beds with ample storage space and a large bathroom. There was a second full bathroom off the foyer as you walked in. The balcony ran the length of the room and was nicely furnished. We had a perfect view of the Magic Kingdom and could watch the fireworks every night.
The lounge was directly up the hall and they were constantly serving food and beverages. It was very convenient.
There are several restaurants in the hotel. You can also catch the monorail on the 4th floor to go up to MK or one of the other resorts en route. The food at the restaurant is good but not great. But it’s definitely passable and very convenient right in the hotel. There are also some cool shops where you can get Disney-licensed merchandise.
Some people have mentioned that the Disney theming is lacking and I’d agree with that, but that didn’t bother us in the least. The look was modern and sleek and definitely felt “contemporary.”
Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and would stay again for the prime location, proximity to the monorail and buses, along with great service and a terrific suite that gave the three of us plenty of space and privacy.

Never again! Old dingy Motel 6!

Garden Wing looks like a cheap Motel 6. Old and dingy on the outside. Incredibles rooms are drab, dull, boring and small. We were on the 3rd floor and still could not see the light parade on the water because of all of the trees. I guess they only cater to the filthy rich. The food at the Contempo Cafe was aweful and cold. Would not refund or give me a new meal. The monorail is disgusting and looks like it is never cleaned. For the outrageous, ridiculous amount of money you charge, shame on you! Shame on Disney.

Christmas Gingerbread House

Attended to see the Christmas Decorations. Able to view the homemade gingerbread castle (replica of Magic Kingdom Cinderella’s castle) on the 4th floor / lobby. When we attended the chef was present and having pictures with guests and talking about how he made it which was interesting. General walk round the resort, outside to the boat jetty, and…

More Disney Outsourcing More Problems
Nov 8, 2024Greg D
One huge problem if it becomes a problem. Disney has outsourced its luggage service at door. Give them your bags and they are not Disney employees. Took an hour to get the Disney bell hop to track down guy from separate company to get our bags. Never run into problem like this in 30+ years of hotel stays even at some sub par hotels. Disney hop…

Took an hour to get the Disney bell hop to track down guy from separate company to get our bags. Never run into problem like this in 30+ years of hotel stays even at some sub par hotels. Disney hop said this isn't an unusual problem since they outsourced the service. Outsourced employee was rude as well. Like I said not a big deal unless you actually want or need your luggage within an hour of asking for it. Otherwise you should be fine.

We did a couple rooms there with my family. Ours was a club room but the other was not. Honestly I forgot about that and the day we arrived, we had a party in our room and shared a few treats with them. The next day I realized our mistake and fessed up to the concierge who was totally cool about the fact we spoke up. He said 'No worries and have a wonderful vacation.' This is the Disney I loved and remember.
One time on an empty (but us) bus to the ticket and Transportaion stop the driver asked us where we were staying. When I said the Contemporary, he too us and the whole darn bus to the front door! Would not accept a gratuity and smiled and said have a wonderful day. People forget this stuff.
One time we sat with the Osborn family and did not know who they were but were complimenting how lovely the lights were at the back of HS. A Disney rep was smiling at us and walked over to me and asked if I knew who I was talking to. Then he told me this was the family who donated the 5 million lights at HS. They were the nicest folks!
Disney... keep doing good stuff and making people feel special. We are shelling out big bucks nowadays and wish you could lasso the park rates for seniors. We have been going for 40 years. Our time is passed to go sun up to midnight but we have done it!
