Let me start by saying I always give a very honest review on here good or bad. I’ll start with the good because there is by far more good than bad. I’d have to say overall possibly the best AI hotel I’ve stayed in. The staff are superb. Can’t do enough for you. We arrived around 9:30am so our room wasn’t ready which was fine. Laura ensured we were sorted for breakfast and that she would come and find us when the room was ready which she did and it wasn’t long. The Hotel Our room was great and we had a great position straight onto the adult pool area (incidentally we never saw any kids playing around this pool). We split our time between both pools and like most resorts you have to be up reasonably early to get the best spots but there were always plenty of loungers available. Food For me the food was the highlight. Lots of options but due to the French influence there was lots of al a carte available which I liked. Small portions but excellent quality which is perfect for us. Infinity Blue was our pick as it was right on the beach and a good choice. Fasina was always very attentive to our needs. La Boma was a good experience but not sure it’s worth the money. C Beach was only a short walk and definitely worth visiting a couple of times as a different menu but same excellent standard. Savana was the buffer restaurant and one for breakfast. Breakfast was ok but as I’m not a fan of buffet it wasn’t somewhere we visited often. Zafarani was the Indian restaurant as another reviewer pointed out has a very limited choice & wouldn’t compete with a decent Indian restaurant in UK. Wine Plenty of good wine and on tap which I enjoyed. Drinks On the whole the staff were very attentive by ensuring no one went dry for too long. The cocktails were a bit of a let down for us. They just didn’t have much taste :( Nicholas was excellent at chatting to guest and making them feel welcome. Spa The Hoyle spa was closed when we visited but we had the option to visit the sister hotel which is a few mins walk along the beach or the free taxi service available was very good. We took advantage of the free massage which was excellent. For the free massage I had Jennifer who was amazing. Unfortunately when we booked in for a second massage she wasn’t on her shift and this wasn’t quite as good but no issues either. Beach Yes the beach isn’t the best but that not really the hotels fault. When we visited we had a few windy days and when we went on the glass bottom boat experience we weren’t able to go out far which made it a little pointless. Overall Would I recommend ? yes 100% … we thoughly enjoyed our 12 days. Would I go back … difficult as the North East sounds like it’s worth a visit. However it’s hard to criticise this hotel and I’m not sure what it could have to do to improve. Just a few little tweaks here and there but in no way did it detract from the overall experience. Well done Heritage Awali Read less

2nd time for us at the Awali. We really enjoyed our 14 nights again the staff are very good especially Rowwett in the restaurant and the beach club which is still amazing . The breakfast is always good but the Buffett in the evening is a bit drab . I think there needs to be more choice on the Indian restaurant menu although the 2nd time we went we pre ordered a madras which was excellent. My only negative review would be the barman in the Zanzibar bar who refused to do me an Irish coffee And said it wasn’t in my package yet I had been having them every night. Jean Pierre was excellent and looked after us very well. We will be back Regards Tim Read less

Staff were both highly efficient and very friendly. All inclusive package is a great deal, given quality of beverages included. One night they had an amazing band over from London. Best musical entertainment I've ever had in a resort! Highly recommended!

Spent 9 nights here (home tomorrow) and I have to say there isn't much to fault really. As others have said the hotels best assets are the staff, they are all very attentive and smiley but a special mention has to go the a young lady called Varshi, she is such a nice lady. Also our housekeeper Ratna who did a fantastic job of cleaning and tidying up. There is a cracking little snack place right by the Adults pool that is delicious and run by Anuska, the food she makes is very nice (and spicy if you ask her for her home made chilli relish). The adult pool was exclusively adults for our entire 9 days which we liked with plenty of loungers and fresh towels too and the family pool looked great but we didn't use it. We were asked by managers more than once if everything was okay and we got the feeling if we had a problem it would have been dealt with quickly. Our room is excellent and large with a good ac system and fan and the shower is powerfull and hot, plug sockets at the side of the bed for charging your phone and the fridge is restocked every day as promised. One odd thing in the room (according to the missus) is there is no power point near a decent mirror.....this is important for hair drying and straighteners I'm told. There is an odd little round mirror near power but it's not much good. The room is looking a little tired around the edges but it's a very busy hotel so perhaps not surprising and as I think that is my only negative comment overall after 9 days we are pretty happy. The main restaurant is okay foodwise but not outstanding as its catering for lots of guests, however the freshly cooked sections are lovely and the fresh omelet in the morning really is good. There is an Indian restaurant onsite that is very good as is Gin'ga, the Asian restaurant in the sister hotel (not free but you do get some money off the bill). The food in here is absolutely fantastic and we'll worth a visit or 2. There are kayaks, pedalos, bikes, tennis courts, pool tables all available as well as Archery with Nick who was an excellent instructor with a great sense of humour and good English. All in all I can find very little we are unhappy with and would recommend the hotel without hesitation Read less

A special highlight was our celebration dinner at Infinity Blue—Yanish(?) , our waiter, was exceptional, providing attentive service that made the evening truly special. We also had the pleasure of playing both Le Château and La Réserve golf courses—Le Château was pristine and enjoyable, while La Réserve offered a thrilling, fiendishly difficult challenge.
