As the name suggests, Yosemite View Lodge is so close to the park that any closer and you'd actually be in it! It also straddles the banks of the Merced River on which river rafting is available in season (Apr-Jun) together with excellent fishing. Looking at various options both for room location and other places in the area (there aren't many), reading various reviews, and I was pleased with my actual experience. Some little things were off (no ice bucket, for example) but the staff were accommodating and made things right. I was in a room with a mountain view. Since my trip was five days in Yosemite and not lounging in a hotel room, the room was fine. I opted for the simplest room (not the river view or kitchenette rooms that cost more), but there was a toaster and coffeemaker in the room. Fine! While the base bedding (no mattress pad, just a bottom sheet) wasn't great, everything was clean and I had great sleep each night. The bath was sparkling clean. The registration area was very helpful since they have a nice selection of groceries that made it possible for me to make up for not bringing more with me. Yes, the items in the grocery are pricier than a big grocery store found in other places, the convenience was amazing! Being four miles from the entrance to the park was the draw. It's basic. This is not a resort or spa. Enjoy it for what it is! Read less

We stayed because of the proximity to the park entrance which was great. At check in they gave us a totally different room than I had booked and it took several minutes for them to figure out they mixed up our reservation with another guests. Overall, it was fine- just know what you’re signing up for. Read less

We stayed at the lodge for five nights and were happy with our accommodations. We ate at their pizza restaurant which was decent. We loved the close proximity to the park and used the pool and jacuzzi often. For families, it seems to have a lot to offer free Game room and outdoor activities (e.g. corn hole.) We found the staff accommodating… Read more

We stayed at this hotel because of its proximity to Yosemite (right outside the entrance) and the fact that the room had a river view and kitchenette. The restaurant was decent, but there is nothing near here - that's where you eat if you don't make your own food. Our room was large with two queen beds. The outside looked well maintained and the staff was very nice. The beds were comfortable and the linens were clean. That's about the nicest thing I can say about this place. There is no phone service (they should tell you that before you book) and the WiFi is extremely spotty. Our room had peeling wallpaper, cobwebs, and a moldy shower. I wore my flip flops to bathe. The kitchen cabinets were sticky and some of the dishes were dirty, so clearly so one is sanitizing anything there. The fridge had no door on the freezer compartment, so all of our food froze and had to be thrown out. We had a fireplace, but it didn't work properly. The rooms are really dated, with old stained furniture. The floors were absolutely filthy - my brand new slippers were BLACK after walking on them for 48 hours. We were unable to move to another room due to the hotel being full, so we were stuck. I always have Clorox wipes with me when I travel, and I used an entire package on this room. We were on the bottom floor and the door had a chair lock that was hanging off (who uses these anymore??) with no weather stripping on the bottom, so the cold air and car exhaust came right thru. We had to cover with a towel. Its a shame that this place is like this - it's in a great location and could be a very nice place, but clearly whoever owns this doesn't really care. Will NOT be back. The Lodge was very convenient to the entrance to Yosemite Park, but sadly, the hotel was a disappointment with the exception of a nice heated pool and a good pizza parlor on the grounds. We made the reservations almost a year in advance, and even though we didn’t pay the highest rate for a room with a balcony and a view, I wasn’t prepared for the room we received. Our room was located next to the road and on the bottom level. It was nice to have a limited kitchenette, but the dishes and cups were mismatched seconds with one of the coffee cups having stains on the bottom. There was mildew or black staining in the grouting between the tiles of the shower/bathtub unit. The air conditioner/fan was loud and sounded like it was close to breaking. The lowest rates offered shouldn’t mean substandard accommodations. Read less
