Excellent location only 2 miles outside the Park. This is helpful to arrive at the entrance gate early as queues can quickly get long to enter the Park. It is definitely worth getting a room right next to the river. It is great to be able to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine. Although the river is noisy, the double glazed windows are… Read more

It is definitely worth getting a room right next to the river. It is great to be able to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine. Although the river is noisy, the double glazed windows are excellent at keeping the noise out once in the room. Rooms are a little dark and old fashioned but well equipped including fridge, toaster, hob (old fashioned) etc. Restaurant was ok, nothing special, and shop was well stocked. A great choice when visiting the Park. Read less

The staff was so helpful answering my questions promptly via email. We arrived after 10pm with no issue checking in late. There is a small grocery area that was open as well and connected to the lobby. We stayed in the Sequoia building on the first floor with a river view. The room has a large bathroom, with a double size tub/shower, a kitchenette, closet, electric built in fireplace, super comfy bed, two nightstands, a desk and a couch with coffee table. The glass sliding door to the balcony must be soundproof. When we opened the door, we were surprised by the roar of the river. I write this at night before seeing it in the daylight but I am sure the view is amazing. We are co side ring staying an additional night because the room is much better than we anticipated. Highly recommend. Read less

What a great find this place was for us! Perfectly located with all amenities on the site for us. We had the loft room with a kitchen which provided the opportunity for us to relax and eat in in the evenings on our return from Yosemite National Park. I imagine the river view rooms would be awesome, but we were happy with our choice.

Beautiful river view. Very convenient to have a kitchenette. Hotel is short in amenities and they do not provide housekeeping unless you request it. I did not realize this and was annoyed to get to the room in the evening to find out it was not cleaned. Next day I knew to request housekeeping which made for a nicer return to the room. Nothing to do in el portal and the only close restaurant is right near the hotel. Nice gift shop in the hotel. Read less
