The hotel

Anyone wishing for a sophisticated and calming approach to accommodation in Chicago should look no further than the Royal Sonesta which rates guests' well-being and comfort levels just as seriously as the stylish interior décor. The hotel offers just that little bit extra with personalised in-room Yoga sessions on the TV or perhaps you would prefer an early morning jog? Of course, you don't have to jog to be able to enjoy the sights and guests staying at the Palomar will be pleased to learn that River North, Navy Pier and the Magnificent Mile are all within walking distance. Further fabulous fitness facilities come in the form of the hotel's indoor heated swimming pool and 24-hour gym which are both guaranteed to help you work up an appetite just in time to check out the gastro-lounge dishes at the Sable Kitchen & Bar. What with in-room dining options and complimentary wine tasting sessions every day at 5.00pm, it's a wonder that you'll find the time to set foot outside however, it would be rude not to so this is your chance to give the Windy City a whirl.

Edgar and Peter were so friendly and gave us exemplary service. We enjoyed our conversations with them and our delicious breakfast too! They indulged my sometimes hard to please in-laws with all of their requests. We will be looking to return on our next visit to Chicago!

Excellent service and food and accommodations were great. I used to stay here when it was the Palomar Chicago. Conveniently located right downtown. Get to Nordstrom and Restaurants nearby. Take a taxi to all other parts of Chicago or take a walk to Millennium Park

The reason for the 5 stars is the hospitality. The reason for the 5 stars is the hospitality. One of the front desk people went above and beyond for a birthday surprise and another saw me looking at dog treats as I was checking out and insisted on giving me a bag to go for my dog at home. The friendliness and customer service made this a warm home away from home. For the introverts out there, the front desk did greet everyone on the way out every time and on the way back in -- in case that's an issue. I had a room with two queens while friends had king rooms. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, modern, and spacious. They also had large desks should you need to get work done. The two drawbacks are that the rooms don't have fridges nor kettles. They have coffee/tea in the lobby in the mornings, but my preference would be to be able to boil hot water anytime I want. They also replace the tea/coffee with infused water in the afternoon.
