Hints and tips
The further you step away from the strip, the more the prices will come down. This is the case for hotels, bars, restaurants, and casinos. Fremont street is a great place to start, with free live music and dollar casino machines.
Almost every Las Vegas hotel will charge a resort fee upon check-out, so make sure you've factored this into your budget. Keep an eye our for hotels where this has been waived, or where they include added benefits so you can get the most for your dollar bills!
Vegas hotel rates are cheapest Monday to Thursday, with elevated rates at the weekend. You'll also find more happy hours available during the weekdays. Travelling during the shoulder seasons (March - May and September - November) will also help keep the costs down.
Even if your trip to Las Vegas is part of a road trip, it's best to pick up your car as you leave so you can avoid hefty parking charges! The city is very pedestrian friendly and there are plenty of free trams to take advantage of.
When you check into your hotel, keep an eye out for voucher booklets in the lobby, which will offer a range of discounts at shops, restaurants and bars.
If you're happy to be flexible with which shows you see, it's worth waiting until the day to visit the kiosks and see what bargains can be had for last minute tickets.
Get your bottled water, snacks and any other refreshments from shops such as Walgreens and CVS. They'll be much cheaper than the hotel prices when you get thirsty back in your room
