Canopy by Hilton Washington DC The Wharf

This review is based in a two night stay for two events waking distance to the area. The Room and Hotel Spacious room overall. The bathroom has a nice, timeless shower design. Rain and hand shower heads. Small bench inside the shower. The vanity is relatively small. Three narrow wall shelves kept clear for guest items partially compensate for this. There is also a small ledge on the full length mirror. Large surface for work along with a c-table at the chaise lounge. The c-table is sturdy/heavy but can be moved around. Nice design touches including the handle on th back of the desk chair and the layout of the open closet area in the foyer. The barn door between the room and foyer keeps out noise from the hallway. There is magnifying mirror. The scent of the amenities is light. The art gives a sense of the nautical place without beating you over the head. (Thank you for being a DC hotel without a cherry blossom themed piece of art.). Our partial marina view was pleasant. The room was clean with just a few minor carpet stains and one small stain on the chaise. The bed was comfortable. The floor and bathroom were very clean. The fridge is a good size. There was only one coffee mug with the Nespresso machine. The reusable water bottle is a nice touch. We did not use the outlets. The rooftop bar has a great design, but with the doors open the roof deck it was too hot up there to stay. The food menu at the roof bar is expensive and limited. (Tip - hotel guests can bring up food from the 2nd floor restaurant. Just have your room key. Room for Improvement The AC is loud enough to keep you up at night. The fan speed could not be adjusted. The Incomm stat read low speed but I suspect someone jumped out the wires and it is actually on high. The grille in our room is positioned directly over the bed. While the room was at a good temperature , we were getting a direct cold breeze on us all night. The unit also appeared to be short cycling. A grille with directional fins would be nice. The lampshades in the room appear to be oxidizing. They started life white but now are mottled brown and white. The USB port at the desk did not work. (The outlets did so the pack is not unplugged.)The clock was plugged with a broken plug. A blanket in the room would be a nice touch to help with the AC at night. There was some noise at night from the courtyard. (Request a high floor). But it was hardly noticeable over the AC noise. Bottom Line - we liked this hotel and this brand. If we come back into town for back to back events we will consider staying here again. Read less

I had another lovely stay at Canopy by Hilton in Wharf DC. I (solo) stayed for couple of days in January 2024 while attending a surprise birthday party at La Vie. I love the area because it’s close to everything - restaurants, entertainments etc. I decided to come back with my family (my husband and 2 boys - 23+ and 16) on our way back to England from Orlando to spend a day in DC to celebrate my son’s 16th birthday. Checkin was swift though disappointed nothing was done on arrival even though I specifically called the hotel prior to arrival that it was my son’s birthday the day we were checking in and would appreciate something special for him. Despite the disappointment, we went out and had a lovely time. The rooms were clean with all necessary amenities and the view from the rooms is amazing. I would recommend Canopy Wharf DC to anyone looking for a lovely decent hotel to stay close to all the actions. Read less

It is a definately good hotel for the stay since it is just opposite to middle of Wharf in Washington DC. Room was good. Only rpoblem is that AC was making huge noice in the night giving us sleepless night almost. This can not be understood in modern times especially. We didn't try their breakfast. The room had no amenities at all and the body wash filled with water than actual materials. Read less
