The hotel

Whilst staying at Jamaica Inn, Winston Churchill swore the light was the best in the world for his watercolours. Jamaica Inn is one of the loveliest small luxury hotels in Jamaica. Now over 60 years old, it retains a gracious air of colonial Jamaica and attracts individuals and couples (some famous), who return on a regular basis. There is a wonderful, natural tranquility about this hotel and it has a lovely location on a private 700 ft white sand beach. Dining is on an outdoor terrace that adjoins the bar terrace. A more romantic setting is hard to imagine, and in keeping with the ‘Noel Coward’ lifestyle, there is a live band most nights. There is a cocktail terrace with a magnificent view and in step with its elegant classic approach, there is a dress code after dark. Bordered by an exquisite 700 ft-long beach, the hotel is in Ocho Rios on the tranquil North Coast of the island. All guest suites face the beach and the turquoise water. Each suite has a verandah or a balustraded balcony and many guests opt to leave the air-conditioning off and allow the sea breeze instead to do the work.

I had the best time of my life in Jamaica and if you have never gone here i would recommend it. When walking around you could tell that there was so much history involved with this place. Our fourth visit, remarkable for that alone as we've traveled a lot, all over, including all around the Caribbean, and Jamaica Inn is the only place we return to this way. Our fourth visit, remarkable for that alone as we've traveled a lot, all over, including all around the Caribbean, and Jamaica Inn is the only place we return to this way. In no small part because it keeps getting better every time we visit. The beach is perfect, assiduously maintained, private, peaceful. We love the suites on the water. There's a perfect gym to offset excellent food & drinks. But perhaps, now, the larger part of our return visits is that, at this most lovely of luxury small resorts, when we walk up to the reception desk, we're greeted with smiles and "Welcome home." When we see a favorite waitperson on our first evening, she laughs and hugs us and says "Welcome home." The gentleman who brings towels to our favorite lounges under the grape tree at the near end of the beach grins and says "Welcome home." It's fun to think of a resort this great, this truly ideal and infinitely relaxing, as one's home away from home; but we do, and look forward to returning again and again. Congratulations, and many thanks to every single member of the Jamaica Inn family. Read less

This was our 3rd year in a row to Jamaica Inn... And quite frankly it is our favorite resort on the island (after 10 trips including 7 resorts prior to finding this gem!)! I simply cannot get over how amazing and attentive the resort staff is, from the moment you arrive, to the moment you depart you're treated like family. The food is wonderful (really enjoyed the Guest Chef experience this year, that was new!), the room accomodations are second to none (we stay in the Cottages and simply don't want to leave our room). Jamaica Inn is a piece of heaven on earth. Highly recommend for those looking to relax, reconnect, and enjoy. Simply the best. Read less

This is a long overdue review of Jamaica Inn, which I wanted to put in after our return from two wonderful (and too short) days at Jamaica Inn. For my wife and I, this was our 4th or 5th stay (though our first since 2019), but this time we were accompanied by our daughter, her boyfriend and another family friend. I was happy to see that everything we appreciated from previous stays - the beauty and simple serenity of the whole place, the wonderful staff, the elegant verandas, the beautiful beach, the wonderful breakfasts - still defines the place. I particularly appreciate the lack of a TV (and the much needed but quite enough AC unit that does not drown out the sounds of the sea), and the non-all inclusive format which gives you the choice of staying in all day, or going out to enjoy the many wonderful restaurants and attractions of the region. With my wife being Jamaican, we've had the pleasure of visiting many parts of the island, each with its own charm, We've also visited several other islands in the Caribbean. So, yes; in Jamaica and elsewhere in the Caribbean, you will find hotels with flashier service and rooms with more amenities. But for simple relaxation in a gorgeous Caribbean setting, Jamaica Inn has everything that you need, nothing that detracts, and is simply unbeatable. Read less
