Galley Bay Resort & Spa

Antigua, Caribbean

Virgin rating

The hotel

Set on one of Antigua's many beautiful beaches, the Galley Bay Resort & Spa offers guests a fabulous combination of superior service, Caribbean cuisine and rustic luxury in a very natural setting. Much of the architecture here is inspired by the French artist Gauguin. The charming individual suites have their own splash pool and are surrounded by lush gardens and views of the lagoon. There are three excellent open-air restaurants, all beachfront, offering intimate, candlelit dining of excellent quality. Ismay's Restaurant offers a higher quality dining experience to be shared for that special occasion, whilst the more laid-back Barefoot Grill is a great place to enjoy a tasty quesadilla made with resort grown produce. At sunset, hors d'oeuvres are served at the bar which overlooks the sea from under its Tahitian-style roof. There are activities such as non-motorised water sports and a recently expanded gym, but reclining with a novel on the beachfront deck from the library is equally as popular.

Just returned from our 2nd stay in this beautiful resort and we will be returning. From the moment we arrived to a welcome drink the wonderful staff couldn't do enough for us. The rooms are beautiful and immaculately clean with balconies/ terraces front and back that step out on to the most gorgeous beach. This is just the place to come to relax and unwind, we loved all three restaurants and the beach grill, so much choice of beautifully cooked food, lots grown on the premises. The cocktails delicious and the quality of the evening bands couldn't be higher. The fabulous guys who run the water sports( sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding and snorkeling) ensure you are safe at all times, we thoroughly enjoyed our sailing adventures. Snorkeling gear in the rooms and fabulous vacuum flasks for iced water or your cocktails, such a thoughtful touch. Bonus for us,turtles hatching on the beach, amazing experience to see. Can't recommend this resort enough, we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else . Read less

We recently returned from our second visit to Galley Bay and it was just as beautiful as we remembered! Our deluxe beachfront room was clean and comfortable with plenty of wardrobe/storage space and had an amazing view of the beach and sea. Drifting off to sleep and waking to the sounds of the waves was heavenly. The restaurants were all excellent with a good variety of fresh and flavoursome food including vegetarian and vegan options. Ismays was fantastic and is worth the small supplement . As many others have said it is the wonderful staff that are the icing on the cake here - they are friendly, attentive and always willing to help make your holiday the best it can be. Thank you to them all, especially the ladies in the coffee shop who made my daily iced coffee and a shout out to Sandy G who went out of her way to make me a delicious bespoke blended expresso cocktail ! ❤️ We will definitely be back! This was our second time at Galley Bay and I cannot say enough about the resort but more importantly incredible the staff. The beach is pristine, one of our favorites and we are frequent travelers. There is no rush to find a chair or a private spot which is a major plus. The lunch options at the grill are delicious, yet simple and include the freshest fish daily. Some examples of how the staff goes above and beyond include but are not limited to: Alfred welcoming warmly us upon arrival and remembering us from our previous visit Elaine juicing an entire watermelon, putting it in a container for me to add fresh juice to my drinks for my 5 day stay. Aliah delivering us drinks with a smile and an engaging personality. Jahquain making our beach dinner at Ismays an unforgettable experience and as he was extremely attentive. Also highly recommend Barefoot tours, we did a private charter with them (booked through Galley Bay)and it was an unforgettable experience! Thank you Tykel We are eternally thankful for Galley Bay accepting our last minute booking (literally same day) after a not so pleasant experience elsewhere on this magical island🩷 Read less

We have just returned from three amazing weeks at Galley Bay and are already planning our return trip! Our primary purpose for visiting Antigua at this time was the T20 World Cup, managing to go to all eight games at the Sir Vivian Richards stadium. Because of this (and the other games that we watched on TV) we probably didn't make full use of the resort, hence the need for a return at some point. The staff were superb overall, and it is difficult to pick the best but definite shout outs to Pearl, Dasani, Tarick, Alec and Jasmine (restaurants/bar), Shanda for the beach bar service, Tunisia, Veronica and Rose-Ann (housekeeping) and all the guest services guys. We were in a premium beachfront suite and had some issues initially, which required a couple of room changes over the first week (bees searching for a new hive in the first and damp/mould in the second) but finally found heaven in room 32 (thank you Nora for organising it). The suite was divine, large walk-in shower, big bath, huge and comfy bed, lovely seating area with TV and the balcony with the most amazing views across the bay. The coffee machine is Nespresso-compatible - the pods are replaced every day but I do wish we'd taken some of our own. Overall a wonderful stay and one we hope to make again soon. Read less

This place is the perfect blend of consistency - feeling confident we know the quality we can count on- and continuous improvement even when we didn’t know it was possible. There is a reason that, like us, many guests return and return! Fantastic!!
