Image of the Tripadvisor rating Tiny rooms tiny bathrooms. Several repairs issues and stingy upgrade policy

Jul 13, 2024 mhk92660 Newport Beach, California

Rooms are small, bathroom tiny, walls are paper thin, shower wasn’t draining and air conditioning was to weak to properly cool the room.. I am a diamond member they had suites available for an upgrade but would not give me the upgrade without a charge of 250 a night despite my member status and significant issues with my room

The best thing about this hotel is its location which is great for sightseeing. The quality of the hotel though is poor. The best thing about this hotel is its location which is great for sightseeing. The quality of the hotel though is poor. We are in room 1038 which we have christened: ‘the room that time forgot’ as it is tired, worn, grubby and - quite literally - was forgotten about by housekeeping as when we arrived back after a day out today, we found it hadn’t been cleaned. The room has nothing except the usual basic hotel furniture - no fridge and neither of the electrical sockets you could use to plug in a hairdryer work. (In fact, the only way to use the hairdryer was to plug it into a lamp socket on the other side of the room nowhere near the mirror). The walls are marked, the furnishings worn, there is quite a bit of dust and it feels more budget hotel than the quality you’d expect for the price. Read less

We specifically chose this hotel based on the location and while the location was excellent, the service, value for money and experience was terrible! I will never recommend this hotel to anyone and urge travellers to rather choose a hotel with more personalized service! It was terrible from beginning to end. They do not value you as a customer and you are basically treated as a number. We stood in a queue for an hour to check in, then we stood in another queue for 45 minutes for luggage storage and they just don't care! When we returned later in the evening to collect our key cards we stood for over an hour in the queue and even called the manager to complain as there were a number of irate customers who were unhappy with this level of service. There was ONE person assisting at the checkin counters for such a busy hotel!! And they had no concern for how long we had to wait! Second complaint is still unresolved!! When we checked in we were advised that the rooms were already settled in full. But after checking out we were charged an extra $90 plus taxes per room for 'upgrades'!! We were never upgraded. We were never offered any upgrades!!! We were told upon checkin that the rooms were PAID IN FULL! We stayed in the rooms we had already pre-paid and then they just steal money from our credit card for things we didn't receive. I am disgusted in the Hilton brand and will never stay in nor recommend any of their hotels. Rather spend your money in a hotel where they value their customers. There are tons of hotels in the area so don't be foolish by staying here, you're not a person to them, just a number! Read less

Good Hotel in a good location, close enough to walk to Times Square (10 mins) but far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle. Located close to Rockerfeller centre / Top of the rock. Good - Rooms, well maintained and decent size - Daily housekeeping. High speed lifts & separate lifts for different floor blocks. Breakfast - Ours was included (Otherwise $45 per person, maybe not worth it) - Breakfast included all the usual - Bacon, Eggs, Tater tots etc plus Omelette station, Cakes, Muffins and Pastries, and Cinnabon! Fruit, Juices & Cereal, great selection. Tea & Coffee served at your table. Daily destination fee - $35 a day room charge but this can be used to spend in Herb & Kitchen - They sell Coffee, snacks, ice cream, drinks etc - Very expensive but a good use of room credit. Note , if you dont use your credit daily you lose it, it doesn't roll over! Location - Good location, walkable to Times square and Rays Pizza (Very good!) Bad - Check in & Check out - Awful! Both checking in and checking out take ages, reception are very slow, even with a handful of people checking in, with a large amount checking in its worse. Over an hour to check out. Room was not ready when we arrived but food vouchers offered so we could grab a meal whilst waiting. Overall would reccomend. Read less

My one grumble was that they had no way to make a tea or coffee in your room?… also room service was not available until about 7am when you have jet lag this is pretty rubbish! Read less
