The closest hotel to the Magic Kingdom Park is the height of retro, '70s cool. The monorail enters the lobby through a 'curtain' of air to drop off and pick up. The stylish, gourmet 15th-floor California Grill restaurant offers incredible bird's-eye views over the Magic Kingdom Park (perfect for the evening fireworks), or you can meet your favourite characters in Chef Mickey's Restaurant. If you're not at the park during the day, there's a big swimming pool, tennis courts and even the option of renting a boat and cruising around Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon - and come the end of the day, tired parents can revive themselves in the cocktail lounge.

We chose this Disney hotel based on its location and reputation for being one of the more luxurious properties on Disney grounds—but unfortunately, it fell well short of expectations. While it wasn’t a terrible stay, it was far from the elevated experience we had anticipated. Pros: -The suite we stayed in was spacious, clean, and appeared recently updated. The location is incredibly convenient—just a 10-minute walk to Magic Kingdom. -Disney transportation is provided via bus to various locations throughout the parks. Staying on-property gives you the advantage of booking Lightning Lane passes 7 days in advance (as opposed to 3 days for off-property guests). -The pool has a slide and a fun water feature for kids. -On the 4th floor, there are stores selling liquor, cosmetics, and Disney merchandise. -Staff was consistently friendly and helpful. Cons: - The dining options were extremely disappointing. The entire 4th floor feels like a dated 1990s mall food court. Most venues open too late for early park-goers & early risers, and last-minute reservations are nearly impossible. Tip: We had better luck calling restaurants at Disney Springs for last-minute openings. - The 12th-floor club lounge breakfast was underwhelming, with limited and uninspired offerings. This too was not open until 7am one restaurant, all the others 730am. - Check-in was a hassle—long lines and tired kids don’t mix well. - The pool is far from relaxing. Drinks aren’t allowed near the pool, not even while soaking your feet and supervising kids. - No room service was available, which was frustrating after a long day in the parks. - Although buses are available, they’re not always reliable. We arrived early and still managed to miss one. - Prepare for noise—there’s a nightly 10 PM show with booming music that woke our kids. - The hotel overall feels outdated. The lobby is nice, and our room was refreshed, but the restaurants and general grounds feel tired. Stained, old carpet is everywhere. - Car security is more of an inconvenience than a safeguard. Our Uber drivers were held up every time, despite anyone being able to walk freely onto the property. Bottom line: This is not a luxury resort experience. It’s just “okay” at best, and for the premium price point, we expected much more. Will we return? Definitely not. Go off property and find a real hotel. Read less

The resort had stained hallway carpets, and the rug in our room was so worn that it was unraveling near the bathroom door. The towels were extremely thin and frayed. Also, the television reception would sporadically stop and start. This hotel was a very poor value and we would not recommend it. Read less

We had a great stay at the contemporary. The location could not be beat. Jake the bell hop was extremely helpful. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because the water filter at the water station was not working. It tasted terrible and so we had to resort to paying for a ton of $4 bottled waters when my husband has a kidney condition.… Read more

They don’t even give you waters when you check in or when they clean your room. Would be a 5 if they just made sure they had readily available filtered water. Read less

Did a girls trip without kids. We had a room on the 2nd floor of the other building. While the beds were raised up kind of high, it left a ton of room underneath for suitcases to get out of the way. The sofa pulled into a great bed that allowed for each of us to have our own space. The bathroom design was not ideal. The shower door did not open all the way and trying to step out between the glass door and the sink counter was a squeeze for my over sized rear end. Overall, we found there be plenty of storage space for everyone's things without the place being cluttered. The staff we encountered were all great. The pool over looking the lake was quiet enough that we did not regret passing on the cabana rental. The convenience of the monorail for clearing security on our park day was fantastic. The decor was lovely without being overly "in your face" Disney graphics. Read less

Just okay. Great location but didn't love the hotel. Decor was somewhat blah and had no excitement when you walked into the Lobby/. The rooms were great and the Incredibles theme was subtle and classy. Loved how it was incorporated in the drawers and closets. We had a Deluxe Garden Wing, King Room that had a LOT of room and huge bathroom. We loved it. Windows were sliding doors but no balcony. Shower had poor pressure (garden wing Floor 2) so couldnt even wash my hair. Ceiling was also too low in the shower area because my husband, 6'5" had trouble standing in the shower. A/C was good but lowest it could go was 68 degrees. Ability to walk to Magic Kingdom was awesome. Bus stop was very close to the lobby and there's a coffee shop in the lobby making it easy to grab something as your heading to the buses in the morning. Pool was just okay. We had 1 pool day and didn't find it too exciting. There's a water slide that's great and easy for kids to enjoy (not too steep or fast). There's a splash pad too but it wasn't on. Theres an adult only "quiet pool" that opens earlier than the main pool and is great for adults. There's also a beach/sandy area with cusioned beds and beach volleyball. The chaise lounges by the pool have a great cusion and pillows. The drink & food service poolside was great. It was fast, easy, and the drink options were some of our favorites. All of the restaurants and stores are on the 4th floor so need to go up from the lobby. Overall the hotel feels like a convetion center, which it is, more than a "magical disney" resort. Read less
