Coconut Court Beach Hotel

Barbados, Caribbean

Virgin rating

The hotel

About as ‘seaside’ as you can get, the Blades family have called this sand-hugging spot home for more than four decades. And they chose a pretty perfect beach for their hotel — which is probably why hundreds of Hawksbill marine turtles call it home too. As you’re here for the beach, the Blades have made sure you’re never far from it, whether you’re lazing on the free loungers, watching moonlight movies on the sands, soaking in the seafront pool and whirlpool, sipping frozen cocktails at the beach bar, or lingering over candlelit suppers at Coco's. The beach itself is lined with beautiful trees to provide natural shelter from the Caribbean rays, so those that don't wish to worship the sun need not worry. It’s not just by the beach though — it’s also steps from South Coast Boardwalk which links you to an array of shops, restaurants and Rockley Beach. The hotel also features an open air restaurant overlooking the white sand beach. Above all else, do not forget to savour a Pirate Punch during one of the several 'happy hours' each day — a traditional Blades family recipe with a twist!

Booked for a trip in November 2024 - this would have been our THIRD time staying at the hotel, with plans to continue to holiday here in the future. Booked direct with hotel and chose the non refundable room rate (wrongly thinking if we had to cancel our travel insurance would cover it!) Sadly our dog has become poorly and we cannot leave him to go on our trip, contacted the hotel and said we understand it cannot be refunded is there any way it could be put on hold for a future date.....got a straight forward NO.....wasn't given any other option, we would have been willing to pay to change dates, would have accepted a shorter trip (booked for 14 days costing $3723) but wasn't given any other option. They didn't even advise that I could change the name to someone else, I had to go back and ask if that was possible. We gifted the trip to a family member so that it wouldn't go to waste. This experience means that although we are very fond of the hotel and the location we would never consider holidaying here again! P.S. I booked a family hotel locally for the weekend we should have been travelling to Barbados (too soften the blow of missing out on our trip), we couldn't make that trip as the dog was unwell, we called the hotel (after check in time on day of arrival) as a courtesy to let them know we wouldn't be arriving....was pleasantly surprised when they said they couldn't refund but could re -book.....now that is Customer Service! I think we've stayed at Coconut Court for 7 times now and we have booked our next trip already. The family run hotel has a very friendly feel to it and the position on the beach is stunning. We feel so, so welcomed by all the staff. In particular, Christina in the room service team, was incredible (once again). She made some great suggestions for us including the observatory (seeing Saturn through their telescope was stunning). I was very touched when she rang us on her day off because we had been taken ill for a few days. Real care and hugely appreciated. Read less

In terms of constructive feedback for the hotel itself I would say there is a very distinct, unpleasant smell that comes from the aircon (room 110). The aircon is also very noisy. Kitchen equipment could be improved I.e more cutlery, plates, glasses etc. gift shop very expensive, no streaming facilities on the TV, staff at beach bar very slow and takes ages once ordered food and forget orders half way through and need reminded several times. Would have tried the theme night on a Monday, but found prices very expensive compared to three course meal at nicest restaurant in the area. The plastic glasses everywhere are a small issue for us. We dont want to drink expensive warm wine from a small plastic cup. Glass or wine glass like plastic should be made available, especially while drinking at the beach bar. People here love it and come back time after time. We would definitely come back. Love the covered seating area by the pool and the being so close to the beach. Thank you for a lovely stay. Read less

Two properties at this location which includes beach side and another building across the busy road on the land side. Nice restaurant and beach bar. The downside for us was the swimming pool accommodates adults and small children so it’s not quiet and the billing system is signing a tab so it might surprise you on the total at the end of your stay. I prefer pay as you go. There is a convenience store across the road which is handy. The family managing this hotel do a good job of taking care of its guests. Read less
