The hotel

Occupying centre stage on the largest private beach in Ocho Rios, the Moon Palace Jamaica promises as many sensational sea views as classic Palace Resort touches which is why this is one of the hottest properties in the Caribbean. Consisting of 680 guest rooms, contained within two shimmering towers, you'll be totally spoiled for choice and with six restaurants and six bars to choose from, you certainly won't be left wanting when it comes to a warm welcome. World-class dining options and a tempting gourmet corridor provide a taste of things to come with the excellent Piano Bar offering a world of wine which has been expertly critiqued for your own deliberation. As most guest rooms have fabulous ocean views, fully stocked mini-bars and 24-hour room service, you may prefer to relax in private. Of course, that's not where the fun stops and if you're travelling with kids, they'll be itching to get out of the room to their own pool, or grab a console in the wired teens' lounge - there's plenty of family options to keep your brood happy and active all day long. With four other swimming pools, excellent spa facilities and loads of daily activities, there's never a dull moment and with the stunning Dunn's River Falls just 15-minutes away, getting out and experiencing the very best of Jamaica doesn't get any better than this.

This goes on nightly as this resort is next door to a small city area that blares bass music until 1:00-2:00 am nightly. The beach is set in a cove so blocks a waves along with water was filled with jelly fish so basically not able to swim in ocean. Service was lacking, staff seems to not want to be here, not up to standards if other palace resorts. Jerk chicken and Momo’s was great, the rest of the food is horrible cafeteria type food. Don’t waste your time or money on this one! Read less

I have been planning my husband’s 50th birthday at Moon Palace Jamaica and it is ruined since November 2023. The total number of my guests is 81 friends and family. The commitments made to me in writing have not been honored. The communication with the concierge and weddings and groups have been almost nonexistent. My concierge in an email accepted my reservation confirmation numbers and list. This acceptance was the last email I received from her on June 13th. She has not acknowledged or responded to emails for the last month. Over a month ago I communicated to my guests what their benefits would be and now I have to tell them never mind. Two days before my trip they did not honor what they committed to. Two days before my trip as I am trying to confirm our transportation I learn that I was lied to and my guests will not receive what was agreed upon. In addition before the hurricane communications with the weddings and group were also subpar. I arrived without confirmation of the birthday cake I requested nor have the other requests I’ve made. I was very understanding regarding what they’ve been through with Beryl. I contacted them to share that my family and I were praying for them and their families. I waited two weeks before resuming contact regarding our trip and again no response until I called the Diamond line and spent close to three hours on the phone being put on hold being and transferred multiple times. What should have been a wonderful vacation birthday party is tarnished because of lack of communication and lies. Do not book any events here you will be disappointed. Read less

We stayed for four nights, from July 1st through the 4th of 2024. We booked two rooms (one for my family and one for my relative). 1. We stayed in a shelter for a night. 2. The lack of organization during the shelter check-in process was a major inconvenience. All the guests were called simultaneously, with no consideration for seniors, families with young children, or those with disabled members. The absence of amplification devices made hearing the announcements even more challenging. 3. The Venus ballroom, where we were accommodated, was without air conditioning. Despite our repeated complaints about the unbearable heat and humidity, the issue remained unresolved after a technician's visit. 4. We had minimal varieties of food at very limited times with long lines. 5. During the shelter's stay, the staff started giving people different-colored wristbands to let them know their mealtimes, which became more chaotic. No staff asked for it, so they disregarded it in the end, which made the transition very chaotic and frustrating. 6. After we were returned to our rooms, we were without air conditioning and internet for most of the stay. 7. The hurricane severely affected the resort's operations, and most restaurants were closed due to a staff shortage. 8. We could not use our resort credit because we signed up for the Konoko Falls (it closed following the hurricane), wanted to sign up for the swim with the dolphin (it was also unavailable), and wanted to go to their spa (which was fully booked). 9. Ensuring we didn’t pay to make a reservation for those activities was a nightmare, too. The staff made me go back and forth with the vacation planners, the front desk, etc. 10. We did not get the food and services we paid for, so we are entitled to our money back. 11. While the staff was friendly and accommodating, the upper management (public relations) team told me that they would not give me any money back based on the pain and inconvenience we have been through. They blamed it on nature. However, if our flights get canceled for the same reason, the resort offered to charge 200 USD per room per night, with an additional 100 USD per person per night for up to 2 extra guests. Where did the policy go now? If they can’t reimburse us and blame nature, why are they asking for money from their guests who can’t fly home because of nature? 12. The list can go on and on, but in the end, I would like to conclude that they did not handle this scenario professionally and ethically. UPDATE: One of the customer care specialists did reach out with an offer on July 13th after we posted the review on Google, but after we emailed back with a few concerns and requests, we did not hear back from her. It has been over a week, and we're still waiting to hear back from her. Again, this lack of response and accountability is becoming frustrating. Read less

Rooms were fine. The food was acceptable, though room service has significantly reduced its menu options and quality since our previous visits, which was quite disappointing. The pools were adequate, and the staff were excellent. However, the $99 per person airport transfer from Norman Manley International, which is closer than Sangster (where transfers are free), is excessive. Worse, this cost isn’t disclosed until after booking. Expect additional costs for tips, charges on services, including those at the spa despite using "spa credits," and more. Interestingly, the competition's costs, though slightly higher, include airport transfers and all gratuities. This means the overall expense is about the same, but without the surprise extra charges. The hard-sell for their membership plan ruined our vacation. We spent almost half a day, on our anniversary, with one salesperson after another being brought in, each offering progressively sweeter deals. Felt like a slime job. If you are interested in the membership, which turns out to not offer significant benefits to the buyer, it's worth holding out for the fourth or fifth offer, as the price drops significantly. The service we received during breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Geovanni was superb! He deserves a raise for how well he served us and for how well he paid attention to our needs while dining. We will visit again just because of how well Geo treated my family during my Auntie’s 80th birthday celebration and our family reunion!!! My family and I also received excellent service during our fun time in the game room playing ping pong, pool, and chess! The gentleman and I played pool numerous times while he manned the doe to make sure that people did not enter in bringing drinks or food. He politely asked folks to leave the food or drinks outside to prevent spills or accidents. I cannot remember his name ( please forgive me), but he was an excellent worker and also deserves a raise. He knows my name as Elizabeth, and made me feel very welcome. Thank you for allowing me to share! God bless you all! Read less
