The hotel

Occupying centre stage on the largest private beach in Ocho Rios, the Moon Palace Jamaica promises as many sensational sea views as classic Palace Resort touches which is why this is one of the hottest properties in the Caribbean. Consisting of 680 guest rooms, contained within two shimmering towers, you'll be totally spoiled for choice and with six restaurants and six bars to choose from, you certainly won't be left wanting when it comes to a warm welcome. World-class dining options and a tempting gourmet corridor provide a taste of things to come with the excellent Piano Bar offering a world of wine which has been expertly critiqued for your own deliberation. As most guest rooms have fabulous ocean views, fully stocked mini-bars and 24-hour room service, you may prefer to relax in private. Of course, that's not where the fun stops and if you're travelling with kids, they'll be itching to get out of the room to their own pool, or grab a console in the wired teens' lounge - there's plenty of family options to keep your brood happy and active all day long. With four other swimming pools, excellent spa facilities and loads of daily activities, there's never a dull moment and with the stunning Dunn's River Falls just 15-minutes away, getting out and experiencing the very best of Jamaica doesn't get any better than this.

The pizza station by the waverunner was excellent not to mention the Churro cart that came out every afternoon… The staff all went above and beyond to make everyone feel special! The activities were very inclusive and entertaining, you could even play the trivia game from the pool. We were a party of 8 and we all had a great time! The only downside for me is I like to walk a beach and the beach is very small so I would walk to the end which transitions to a public beach but even still it’s maybe 1km from start to finish. Overall highly recommend! Read less

Breakfast was beyond great. Chef Nef kicked eggs, French toast and crepes to a new level. The atmosphere is chill, the scenery beautiful and the people are sunny. You must try the compote. It was a daily highlight to our stay. Completely wonderful in all aspects. Respect Mon!

We came to this resort a few years ago, and loved it. However, it has gone downhill since then. When we checked in, they immediately tried to get us to come to breakfast to sell us a timeshare. We said no. So, they decided it was ok to not activate our $500 resort credit, but I wasn’t informed til I tried to make a booking for a massage. There’s a… Read more
We came to this resort a few years ago, and loved it. However, it has gone downhill since then. When we checked in, they immediately tried to get us to come to breakfast to sell us a timeshare. We said no. So, they decided it was ok to not activate our $500 resort credit, but I wasn’t informed til I tried to make a booking for a massage. There’s a handful of staff that are friendly, but for the most part, everyone else could care less, even when you tip consistently. The environment used to be vibrant and clean. Not so much anymore. The bar uses syrups and no fresh fruit juices. The room and bathroom were fine. Food is mediocre. Coffee shop and ice cream place is still great! Day staff at coffee bar are super friendly, afternoon ladies are not. Momo was great too last night. We are here for an additional day and a half. I really hope the atmosphere is brighter and more friendly as the weekend comes up. I’m just so disappointed in this experience though. I’m not even interested in fighting for my resort credit at this point. It’s useless, you already left a bad taste. It was so wonderful back a few years ago. I hope management reads this and works on the issues. Read less

Let's start with the good: staff were very helpful and accommodating, especially the waiters and waitresses at the pools and on the beach. Remember to tip them as they work really hard to serve the guests. The bad: communication from other hotel staff leaves a lot to be desired. For example, we used Interval to book our stay and called the hotel in advance of the trip to inquire about transportation from the airport to the resort and back. At no time did any hotel staff tell us that transportation was INCLUDED in the all-inclusive package charge. We were simply told to locate the transportation desk in the airport and arrange the transportation. We were never told or emailed any information regarding transportation from the resort back to the airport; therefore, when we inquired at the hotel the evening before departure, we were told that there may not be any seats available for us on the bus because we were to make the arrangements 24 hours in advance. I guess we were to figure this out on our own! REALLY BAD: Check-in at the front desk is really slow because the front desk staff attempts to hard sell the guests by suggesting upgrades to the room assignments. They even go as far as telling married couples that they do NOT have any rooms with king size beds and that they ONLY have rooms with two double beds. When guests become upset, the front desk staff then suggest that housekeeping can push the two double beds together. They also attempt to put two grown men in a room with 1 king size bed. All of this is done in order to hard sell room upgrades. They attempted to have my husband, and I pay an additional $1,000.00 for a room upgrade. The experience at the Front Desk check-in caused the entire trip to go down-hill. The room they assigned was so outdated and small that two people could not even stand in the bathroom at the same time. ESPECIALLY BAD: When checking-out, guests are again approached by salespeople attempting to hard sell additional "time" at other Moon Palace Resorts. This pitch is very hard sell and constant unless you tell them a clear "NO" and leave you alone. Bottom line - I would NEVER book a stay at this resort again! Read less
