The hotel

Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, leading down to a lovely 1.5km beach, the Veranda Palmar Beach is great for those seeking tranquil surrounds. There are plenty of water sports to enjoy too, including diving, sailing and fishing. For the less energetic, the golden beaches are a perfect haven for sunbathing. The smiles and generous attention of the hotel staff contribute to making this a popular choice of hotel. Families will love the Timomo Kids Club, but the activities aren't just for the little ones, adults can enjoy sega dance initiation and cooking lessons.

We had a very good experience at this hotel. A special thanks to Mr. Vijay and Mr. Kewal for their exceptional service! They were both incredibly attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Their professionalism and dedication to guest satisfaction really stood out, and we felt well taken care of throughout our stay.

What a unforgettable holiday! The staff is amazing and so friendly and helpful! To name a few, Akshay at the bar, Yanish, the staff meal times ect! The hotel is unfortunately on the windier side of the island but thats not there fault 😆! Its actually close to catamaran excursions and watersports so no need to travel far to enjoy them. The sand is the best, felt like flour. They build the hotel in such a clever way that when you're at the swimming pool or restaurant you don't feel the wind at all. The breeze is actually refreshing to say the least. Food selection is enough to fill you up and food is delicious and tasty. I was at another hotel in the West in 2018 with more food options, but then you tend to over induldge. The rooms are easy accessible and so close from everything. The hotel is beautiful and we slept like babies! Room service was excellent and we we're surprised with a new shaped towel everyday 🤪. I would highly recommend Veranda Palmar Hotel! Blessings from South Africa staff! We appreciate your smiles and kindness! Read less

Overall I enjoyed my experience but this was probably more down to Mauritius itself rather than the hotel. Many of the aspects I will raise have been commented on by others so I doubt the management will do anything to address these so when coming to decide whether you want to stay here, expect it to be the same. Good points: Great location, right on the beach which was kept clear of the very little bit of seaweed that came ashore during my stay. Good range of included water sports and the daily snorkelling trip to the reef was very good. The rooms were simple and pleasant, good air conditioning and well cleaned during my stay. The afternoon tea was very nice with pancakes cooked to order, plus some other savoury snacks. Bad points: The aspect that had the most negative impact for me was related to all meals. The food itself was ok, not a huge choice but dinner options were different every evening apart from the pasta that was there every night. It wasn’t high end cuisine by any means but I guess what you’d expect for 3 stars. At all meal times and every day there were insufficient glasses, cutlery, bowls etc. This became really annoying as every meal time I’d have to find a waiter/waitress and ask for a spoon for the ice cream or a glass for the juice etc. etc. in the morning as they had run out - they then came back with one or two items so the same thing would happen for other guests - it seemed they’d have to wash them in the back as they hadn’t got enough crockery/cutlery and didn’t notice or care when none were available. On sitting down initially most tables did not have enough knives/forks or glasses so I’d have to go and take some off other spare tables. Staff seemed poorly trained and should have noted all this and acted. On sitting down for dinner, I’d often have eaten the plate of food I’d got for a starter before I could see anyone to wave at to get a drink (probably on just one occasion did someone come over and asked what I wanted to drink. I tended to have red wine and was poured the smallest measure every night (obviously staff were told to pour this amount as it was consistent). The most glasses I could get was two as it was difficult to flag down staff to get another. The hotel was clearly trying to save money and this was annoying as it was the only drink I enjoyed whilst there - the all inclusive beer was unpleasant, cocktails poor and limited to four options, very limited range (the most limited I’ve experienced at an all inclusive hotel) of what you could have on the all inclusive drinks. After the evening meal there was a small area where musicians played music etc. but nowhere for people to sit and have a drink. Guests had to sit/lie on sun-beds around the pool - very bizarre and not really acceptable. So after dinner it was quite lame in terms of ambience and ability to sit and have a drink. For me all this made the evenings not particularly special or enjoyable. It has been raised before and obviously brushed aside. Overall: Has potential, but I wouldn’t come back, it feels the hotel is trying to provide the cheapest service in many ways and it’s a false economy as it would cost very little to put the issues right and make it much more of a enjoyable experience.
