The hotel

Notable for its impressive tower, this hotel's style has been borrowed from the best ideas of classical architecture. The lobby is particularly impressive with its marble columns, bronze sculptures and huge picture windows leading out on to the pool, surrounded by an attractive terrace with neo-classical colonnade. All rooms command views of the city, Table Mountain, the harbour or the Atlantic Ocean. Stella Cafe and Bar has a Parisian chic vibe indoors, or you can dine al fresco overlooking the pool, with a fantastic selection of South African wines to compliment your chosen dish - an ideal way to wind down after a day of meetings or sightseeing.

Always a pleasure staying at the hotel with 5 star buffet breakfast and good service. However both times we went there the service at the spa was disappointing. I managed to book a pedicure (the telephone line was bad and the receptionist blamed the salon phone), but when I got to the spa, they never made my booking and was very unprepared. They… Read more

I managed to book a pedicure (the telephone line was bad and the receptionist blamed the salon phone), but when I got to the spa, they never made my booking and was very unprepared. They had to ask one of the staff members to stay after her shift has ended to assist me which I only found out mid treatment. The gel colours were very limited and the facility (room) wasnt prepared nor was the seating comfortable. Mangwanani spa really need to step up their game. Read less

Celebrated our 37 year anniversary at the end April. Super friendly and helpful reception staff who assisted with hassle-free check-in. Awaiting for us in our room was a beautiful and scrumptious chocolate munch cake and a bottle of Appletizer, including a personalized card with well wishes. This was amazingly thoughtful and appreciated. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed the late afternoon sun in the room. Spectacular views. Breakfast had a large variety to choose from. Everything fresh and tasty. More halaal choices would have been welcomed. The pianist at breakfast set the tone for a serene atmosphere. Made use of the free and safe shuttle to the Waterfront. Enjoyed meeting new friends especially the Irish Rugby team and their jovial supporters. Appreciated and enjoyed the sweet snacks in the foyer on Saturday. We have been to several hotels but never before did we receive this VIP treatment and service. Thank you so much. Will definitely be booking at this hotel again. Read less

Beautiful hotel with awful WIFI. The lobby is lovely, the location near the conference center is ideal, the staff is courteous and helpful. I always bring work with me when i travel and that was very difficult to get done with the very slow and spotty wifi service.

The breakfast was varied and delicious, however the staff at breakfast were unhelpful and somewhat sullen. There were no smiles or pleasantness except from the maitre'd. Getting a cup of tea was a major achievement as the server had to come to the table and take your order. You could nearly be finished eating your food by the time this happened. We couldn't understand why there wasn't a tea station, as in most hotels today. There is a shuttle bus which goes on the hour to a central shopping area and returns to the hotel on the half hour. Very convenient and makes the location of the hotel unimportant. Stop for hop-on hop-off buses nearby. We enjoyed our stay here the staff at breakfast being the only down side. Read less

My wife and I stayed at the Cullinan 2 weeks ago for 3 days. We had a beautiful stay, my wife always insists that when we visit Cape Town we must stay at The Cullinan. Everything was good when we got there , the only issue my wife and I encountered was when we called the service centre to place our room service orders there was a lady by the name of Sarey(if thats how you spell it)who always sounded annoyed and frustrated when speaking to us after we had to wait a good few minutes for our call to be answered for our room service orders to be taken or when we requested for something. She also kept saying excuse me mam(in a very abrupt tone) because of so much noise and laughter in the background. To us that was very unprofessional and we actually hesitated calling there to get that tone of voice. Other than that we love the Cullinan, and we cannot wait to visit after the the refurbishment. We hope by then the attitude of this staff changes. Read less
