The hotel

Notable for its impressive tower, this hotel's style has been borrowed from the best ideas of classical architecture. We spent 2 nights at this hotel. I always enjoy staying at the Cullinan. The refurbishment is good but it’s quite obvious that they didn’t pay attention to details. The reception area looks grand. But the rooms are lacking. The bathroom door handle was loose and the newly painted furniture is already peeling. Obviously quality control is lacking.… Read more

The shuttle bus was again a problem. Arrival and departure was erratic. Not good to promise and not deliver. I still enjoyed my stay and will definitely choose the Cullinan Read less

This hotel deserves 0 stars 1. We have reserved 10 rooms six months ago. The front desk took 2 hours but didn’t finish the check-in procedure‼️ 2 hours❗️Only 10 rooms‼️ 2. Many people in our group who share a room are not couple. For example, daughter go on a trip with father. We need a room with two single beds. But the hotel arranged many… Read more

Many people in our group who share a room are not couple. For example, daughter go on a trip with father. We need a room with two single beds. But the hotel arranged many double bed rooms for us. 3. We request a room change. The hotel gave us a room which someone was still staying! And this ridiculous thing has happened twice❗️ This is a big harm to us and other guests! Just think about that, how terrifying it is when two strangers suddenly break into your room with your room card! 4. The two oldest elderly people in our group (77 years old) waited at the front desk for two hours, but the hotel was still unable to solve the problem. Our tour guide has been discussing with the front desk for us. The driver is also unable to go home due to this matter. Is this the way a five-star hotel treats guests? I'm sorry that I mentioned the hotel in Zambia left the worst impression on me. This hotel is the worst. 这间旅馆值得0颗星 1、我们一共10间房间。我们提前了半年就预定了，但前台却花了2个小时也没办理完入住。 2、我们团里共住一间房的人们很多都不是夫妻关系。比如我就是和我父亲一起出来旅行的。我们需要两张单人床的房间。但酒店给我们安排了很多双人床房间。 3、我们要求更换房间。酒店却给了我们别人还在住宿的房间！而且这种行为还干了两次！这是对我们和别的客人的极大伤害！ 只要想想，突然有两个陌生人拿着你的房卡闯入了你的房间，这是多么可怕的一件事！ 4、我们团里两位最年长的两位老人（77岁）在前台等了两个小时，酒店也没能解决问题。 我们的导游也一直为了我们和前台理论。司机也因为这件事不能回家。 这就是所谓的五星级酒店的服务吗？ 我很抱歉，在上一条评价中说赞比亚的那家酒店是我印象最差的酒店。南非的这家才是最坏的。 Read less

The hospitality of the front desk & those in Stella are topnotch. When under renovation, I realized how much they were a part of my love for Capetown. Poolside is perfect for having a relaxing evening. On a recent visit - I ventured over, after being out all day, not realizing that the kitchen had closed. There is an automatic computer shut off time for entries in the restaurant. The bar stays open later than the kitchen. Front Desk agent Solomzi, Stella staff Warren and Leo saw to it that my order could be completed. After dining, the security walked me to my hotel. ONLY in Capetown! There are not many establishments that would allow that to happen. Most would have stopped at "we are closed". To say their actions and attention made my evening, mind you- I am not a guest , but a frequent patron. As an American- I know the request would not have been entertained in ANY establishment. The staff will treat you even better if you choose to stay here. You personally receive welcome towels and infused water when you arrive each evening. I recommend this property whenever someone asks where to stay in Capetown. Service is what sets you apart in the hotel industry. I love that people are kind and respectful. I ❤️🇿🇦. Read less

Maintenance would arrive and tell us they would return to fix it, but when we would come back in the evening, the leak was actually getting worse. On our fourth day, we simply couldn't use the bathroom anymore, so my wife actually took a video and went to reception, and this time, they sent a maintenance man called Liam, who actually fixed the problem. If this had been sorted earlier, then my review may have been more favourable as the hotel restaurant was good, as was the location for visiting the Cape Town Waterfront. I personally would not stay here again. Read less

The Cullinan Hotel by The Southern Sun went to great lengths to make this year’s Cape Town Marathon an incredible experience for those staying here. I highly recommend the hotel to those planning to run the Marathon. Obviously always a top spot for anyone planning a trip in the area.
