Hosted a vip guest for lunch at the Vineyard Hotel today. Service was poor and no waiters around when you needed them. Twenty minutes after placing our order we were approached by a different waiter who asked us to confirm what we had ordered, clearly indicating that they had not even started to prepare our meal! After my meal (a very small piece of pork belly for R275), I ordered an Americana coffee with cold milk. The coffee came and the cup was filled to the brim, with no space for the milk that came 5 minutes later. I asked the waiter how I was supposed to add milk to the cup that was filled to the brim with coffee. She took the cup away to remove some of the coffee. When she returned the cup was only half full and it was lukewarm before I had even added the milk (from a large jar with enough milk for 10 coffees)! Needless to say I left the coffee, paid the bill and decided that it would be the last time I visited my former favorite garden restaurant in Cape Town. The staff were always gathered around the reception pay-point desk chatting to each other. It was evident that proper training was patently absent 😡

I have stayed here twice and love everything about this hotel. The hotel is tidy and the staff are warm and friendly. I love the ambience of the hotel. The breakfast and dinner was also very good! The breakfast had a huge variety of food.
Highly recommended for a comfortable stay!

The breakfast is amazing and the Morii restaurant is a taste experience, well worth a visit. As a wheelchair user, the accessibility is perfect, our room did not look in least bit “ disabled’ yet it accommodated my needs. The guest experience manager, Mkho, organised a shower chair for me that made my husband Adam’s caring role much easier and more comfortable for me. Can’t wait to come back.
