The hotel

Fancourt Hotel is definitely one of South Africa’s premier hotels. Set against a dramatic mountain backdrop, rooms are split between the 150 year old Manor House, which has been completely remodelled to create a boutique hotel and the main hotel, which effortlessly combines modern luxury with traditional elegance. A golf estate – Outeniqua and Montagu 18-hole Golf Courses are two of the finest you’ll encounter – a must for any enthusiast. Meanwhile, those intent on a spot of pampering are also in for a treat. Rituals inspired by the four elements: air, water, fire and earth form the basis of all therapies, ensuring you leave your tranquil surrounds feeling balanced and on top of the world! Dining can be as formal or as casual as you please. There are several restaurants to choose from, including La Cantina, which is ideal for all the family. Where is it

The town of George is in the middle of the Garden Route, halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Approximately a 4 hour 30-minute drive from Cape Town.

115 rooms. All of which are air-conditioned and have a balcony or patio, satellite TV, tea/coffee-making facilities, mini-bar* and safe. Classic Rooms overlook the Outeniqua Mountains, gardens or the Montagu Golf Course, with 1 king-size bed or twin beds, sleeping 2 adults.
Luxury Rooms offer more space with 1 king-size bed or twin beds, sleeping 2 adults. 

One-Bedroom Suites with separate living area, private patio or balcony and 1 king-size bed, sleeping 2 adults.

4 restaurants: Henry Whites, La Cantina (Italian cuisine), Monet's (French-style bistro) and The Club Lounge (club style food).

The Leisure Centre has two swimming pools – one outdoor pool with a Jacuzzi, and a heated indoor pool. Spa* with sauna, steam room, tepidarium and Roman bath. Gym. 3 golf courses* – Outeniqua, Montagu and The Links. Mountain-facing tennis courts. Fishing. Leisure trails.

Knowing there are few good hotels left on the garden route I fear Fancourt is following suit with its service starting to slip

It was such a lovely experience for our family. We played golf and had a very relaxing stay at Fancourt. The SPA service was so exceptional. Our boys didn’t want to leave the leisure centre, and Dimakatso made them feel welcome in the Space. We are definitely coming back for a longer stay.

This, is Heaven on Earth and You are regarded as a God/Goddess and are treated accordingly. Unparalleled Service. Immaculate and Stunning in every way. Management and Staff are professional and friendly go beyond the call of duty to make your stay memorable. They even have their own Choir with Voices of Angels.

Friendly and accommodating staff. Catered for my halal requirements which is always a big plus. Great for the kids as they have lots of things to keep them busy
