Sheraton Pretoria

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in by far. I don’t understand why Marriott allows them to use the Sheraton name. Reception staff extremely unfriendly, no bell men anywhere to be seen so you on your own for your luggage. Booked club lounge suite but was not offered the facility until I raised it in the morning, usually this is highlighted at check in. Club Lounge is really a joke. One plate of pastries, two juices and that’s it for breakfast. Coffee machine in room with no capsules, asked for capsules was told housekeeping will be on duty at 8am and will see then however they are probably out of stock. Restaurant was pathetic, menu a choice of burgers or wraps, service very poor. Would never stay there again. Intercontinental at Joburg airport was far superior. Read less

What a horrific experience. Booked and paid our accommodation with Booking.com as I normally do and I never have issues. Arrived to check in and told sorry we have no rooms we overbooked. Staff laughed at our dilema. Had to phone around trying to find an alternative hotel but with the SA/Irish Rugby game this was not easy. I eventually found the Manhattan Hotel. Not the best area but what a fantastic hotel and staff that goes the extra mile. After all the hell Sheraton put us through I am now also battling to get my money refunded for rooms we never stayed in. Absolutely shocking hotel. Worst experience in my life. Dont go to this Hotel. We are an Irish/South African family who booked and paid for 5 rooms on the Marriott group website. Downloaded the app and received confirmation. We were coming for the South African Irish rugby game. We arrived in Pretoria at 2:30 exhausted from our travels looking forward to a quick checkin (match starts 17:00 and would have been 5min taxi ride away). On arrival with 4 kids in tow we were told there are no rooms available yet. I insisted we at least check in and can leave our luggage in storage. I had let them Know on the app we would arrive at 2:30. Next thing the clerk says there are no rooms and goes to fetch a manager. Freddie Temu comes down to inform us they are overbooked and can’t help us. I show them the confirmation and tell them no one has let us know even though these bookings were made a week prior. He tells us there is a 3 star hotel apparently their sister hotel (no evidence of this being a sister hotel) the manhattan in the CBD I should try there he cannot help me and stares blankly at me. I explained the reason we chose Sheraton was security and where the Irish supposed were staying. We asked to speak to another manage Lorenzo Peacock who should consider finding another occupation as the apathy towards guests is appalling. We asked what policy is in place when this is clearly the hotels fault. He said there is no policy and we should go find somewhere else. They couldn’t wait to kick us out with no help whatsoever. I have my own establishment and my system flags the manager when overbooking occurs. We then Go to great lengths to contact the guests with plenty time to find alternative accommodation or try and assist to book equivalent rooms for them. I cannot believe a more hotel group as big as Marriot hotels Is so callous, unapologetic and unhelpful. This is hospitality at its worst - so be warned if you book this hotel this awaits you !!! We had to leave and a few seconds later I receive booking cancelled on the app. I did not cancel the rooms but I suppose someone needed to quickly amend their mistake. Black mold in the shower and slippery shower floor with packed-on soap residue. Leaking shower door. The hand shower in the bath was broken off and left on the side. Filthy floors, bedside tables, and electric sockets are not working. There was no answer at room service. No manager is on duty after 17:00. Filthy chairs are in the dining room. The waitress dropped a bunch of cutlery on the not-so-clean floor but casually picked it up and put it back on the tables. No care for health & safety. Read less

Disappointing. The hotel is in desperate need of some TLC and updating. It’s dark and drab looking. The chandelier in the bar was dirty with some globes not working. The day time staff are polite and attentive however the same can’t be said of the evening/night shift. It’s not what you would expect from such a hotel. Customer service overall needs to be improved. We had a one night stay and the room was nice with a comfy bed. The TV only had 4 channels despite a TV menu detailing much more. We ordered room service for a burger. Trying to get hold of room service was a mission and took about 30 minutes. The burger was very good. We went out for dinner but did have a continental style breakfast the next morning. It was okay.
