Bakubung Lodge Game Drive Review I recently visited Bakubung Lodge for a game drive with friends, and despite the challenging weather conditions—wind and rain—it was a memorable experience. Our tour guide went above and beyond, showing incredible patience, helpfulness, and adaptability throughout the drive. They made every effort to ensure we were comfortable and engaged, even under less-than-ideal circumstances. I was abit disappointed that I was not offered a discount for the game drive which I had paid for 6 people, atleast I could have been offered some sort of discount, when I asked the person at reception about it, he said it's not possible without making any efforts, other then that I had a great time.

The summary said it well; Bakubung is a worthy choice. And with the experience of 4 nights there last August, I have some tips to relay. 1. "All inclusive" works well: meals, game drives, BOMA dinner & show (only on Wednesday, in Aug. '24)...set to go! But on arrival, when reserving for the above as they demanded from us , do another reservation right then for game walks. If interested, do not hesitate despite the extra cost since tickets may sell out on site before you hear again about them. Uninformed, we missed the chance. 2. Big thing to get right in a safari is the game drives. When our sightings deteriorated with a change in driver, we spoke to the people at the wilderness center on site; problem rectified. Our experience taught us to be wary of a driver disclaiming responsibility for poor sightings on the onset of a drive. 3. Don't be deterred by the exorbitant cost of the "extra" water at Bakubung. Just get around it by bringing your own. Easy to do even with a transfer, possibly stocking up in the convenience store at the last "pit" stop before the park. 4. Last of all, the ultimate relief for those who, like us, forgot their phone charging cable at home. THE BAKUBUNG GIFT SHOP MIGHT HAVE THEM IN STOCK AND AT A FAIR PRICE OF AROUND R150. Read less
