Terrible - NOT a 5-star hotel experience

The Cascades Sun City hotel advertises itself as 5-star, but our experience was anything but. The bathroom was dirty, with a persistent foul odor from the toilet despite daily cleaning. The shower was blocked and caused flooding, and by 6 pm, both rooms we booked had no hot water, leaving us unable to bathe. The wall-mounted phone charger was broken from the beginning. The rooms are designed with shared balcony access, allowing guests from other rooms to enter your space. On our second night, the neighboring guest was loudly talking on our balcony right in front of our room, disturbing our sleep. When we contacted security, they couldn’t reach her since she was outside on our porch, so they had to enter through our room to address the issue. The problems didn’t end there—poor soundproofing meant we could hear loud music from outside late into the night. For a so-called 5-star hotel, the experience was shockingly poor.

If you’ve never been to a public hospital in South Africa and are willing to pay thousands for the experience then I would advise staying at the Sun City Cascades. What a pathetic excuse for a “hotel”. “Escape to Sun City” they say, more like, “Be banished to Sun City”. I booked a weekend away to Sun City thinking that this would be great little break away from the city only to arrive at a “hotel” were the breakfast area looked like the food court in a low rent Mall. Whilst i can understand that the theme may be “beachy”, do the chairs really need to look like they are from the eating area of a hole in the wall fast food restaurant that has one table as their dining area. Now, lets talk about the room, to call them “dated” is really kind and unfortunately for Sun City Cascades I am all out of kind. PATHETIC is the word that springs to mind. Was it clean, sure, but can you really judge clean through the outdoor tiling that served as the in room flooring, the family room couch that was so old it wouldn’t even maintain its shape, the bright orange tile in the bathroom whose manufacture was probably discontinued before many of us were born. 3 Star? Really? Sun City, my issue is not that you haven’t renovated your hotel for 30 years, its that your rates don’t match your offering. Charge what its worth, in my opinion for the room only, no more than R 800 a night and allow us to actually be able to manage our expectations when choosing to stay here. Most definitely the WORST experience I’ve ever had.

very awful

I'm sorry for the rude staff of this hotel. I stayed for two nights and saw the worst behavior and now it's my last night. I hope to get out of this awful hotel as soon as possible and get rid of the disrespect they gave me, but the behavior of the staff was very bad. I'm really sorry for the Sun City series
Disappointed

At arrival I asked for a room that was not located on ground level as the last time at Sun City there was an overwhelming odour of mould. Anyway, my room was on ground level and mould odour still there. No water in room on arrival. No fridge and nothing at all except the bed and tv. Anyway, my room was on ground level and mould odour still there. No water in room on arrival. No fridge and nothing at all except the bed and tv. Going to the pool I ordered food and drinks, paying with the room card. The poor waiter returned stating that no facility was opened on my room and that we had not even checked in 😡I was assured the account was open.
Anyway, we are still here “slumming it” hoping tomorrow will be better.
