The hotel

A veritable castle in the heart of the city, the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is an impeccable symbol of indulgence and pedigree. Offering the luxury and services of a world-class hotel, all guest rooms are beautifully furnished with every attention to detail observed. Facilities include a state-of-the-art health club, accessible 24-hours a day, with indoor heated swimming pool and saunas. Pilates and Yoga classes are available at the Sitka Studios or treat yourself to some well-deserved pampering at the Absolute Spa. There’s also some prime shopping in the lobby with designers stores selling plenty to tempt you! Although you’re close to plenty of restaurants and bars in the downtown area, the Fairmont’s very own Notch8 Restaurant & Bar is the ideal place to relax and watch the world pass by. Named after a train’s top speed, achieved only by the most skilled conductors, the restaurant pays homage to the hotel’s storied history and legacy as a luxury hotel along the Canadian Pacific railway. A traditional afternoon tea is also served here daily — for a special occasion, add a glass of champagne or, if the kids want to tag along, childish delights include Bubblegum Tea, fresh strawberries and cream and a giant chocolate chip cookie!

I will admit that we were a bit disappointed when we had to reschedule our trip to Vancouver and were bumped from the newer hotels near the convention center to the "Castle." I will admit that we were a bit disappointed when we had to reschedule our trip to Vancouver and were bumped from the newer hotels near the convention center to the "Castle." But while the facility itself is older -- I will call it retro elegance -- the location cannot be beat. We were surrounded by great shopping and restaurants and able to walk in three directions to visit Granville Island, Stanley Park and the too-crowded convention center district. The staff is simply wonderful. If I have any criticism, it is almost petty -- the front desk never seemed to have Canadian bills, neither for exchange nor to break larger denominations. But I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Read less

The gold floor was second to none. The staff and accommodations were incredible. The food was excellent and any assistance we needed from getting a car to restaurant reservations to detailed info on excursions and recommendations were top notch. Live music in lounge was great w creative boozy cocktails.

Everything was just so great for our family of four. Great breakfast, spacious, clean, and comfort room and bed, beautiful and luxurious interior design, best location in the downtown, room upgrade. The hotel is a showcase of its own history. Love it. We have a memorable stay here.

I could not praise the hotel more. Stayed here before joining Crystal Cruise and was not disappointed. I stayed on the Gold floor. Both the lounge and general service were exemplary. They kindly upgraded my room to a fabulous suite with lots of treats. A real 5 star treatment. Hotel is older but had been sympathetically refurbished. Dinner… Read more

We stayed here for two nights after a Princess cruise. It was booked by our travel agent via Princess. We had a shuttle to the hotel from the ship and were really surprised and pleased with the location and how large and updated the room was. The hotel is just blocks from Canada Place and within walking distance if need be. We were also given a voucher for our cab ride to the airport via Princess. There are cabs right outside the front entrance and the staff will make sure you can get one if you need it. The concierge was very helpful with any questions we had and there was staff to help with luggage if needed. The hotel lobby is situated in between some high end stores and the restaurant has good food. Pricey but good. Our room was very clean and overall we were very pleased with our stay. Read less
