The hotel

Very Vancouver, this downtown delight brings the city’s signature cool styling, upscale-yet-casual lifestyle, and modern dining scene to your door. It might be stylish and spacious — and have free WiFi on tap — but you won’t want to spend much time in your guestroom — not when your feature-filled hotel has distractions like a gym, Life Luxe Spa, and al fresco sun deck with heated pool and hot tub. Giving you a true taste of British Columbia, Hyatt Regency Vancouver’s bars and restaurants feature fresh regional produce, sustainable seafood, local microbrews, home-grown wines, and artisanal cocktails, as well as the less-local Starbucks® for that pre- and post-sightseeing caffeine fix. The location’s very Vancouver too — eating out, shopping, and sightseeing are effortless with downtown favourite Robson Street just blocks away, and Stanley Park’s beaches, cycling, and totem poles a leisurely stroll.

I no longer write reviews regularly but my recent stay here was so aggressively mediocre, bordering on poor, that I had to offer my thoughts. Arrived at the hotel at around 3 PM in the hopes of checking in a little early, since 99% of hotels typically have room types available in slight advance of published check in. Was told there was a “system outage” and could not check anyone in. No offer to take down number to send a txt message of when system was back up and running, no offer to store luggage (though they did once I asked), no offer of water or anything. Coincidentally around standard check in time of 4, the system miraculously started working again. We’ll call that a coincidence. Off to a poor start. Other things I found super frustrating/annoying: - No water bottles in room for Explorist - No tea kettle offered (only pod coffee thing) - Oddly low height for counters in bathroom (commensurate with an accessible room, except I didn’t have an accessible room) - Super thin walls - awoke to an IPhone alarm going off in an adjacent room, kept up by bed springs (seemingly) right next to my head - Slow elevators, to the point where I waited at one point >5 minutes for an elevator. Which for a hotel that had plenty of availability left online to book when I was there seemed weird. More disappointing was that when I texted the front desk to let them know the wait seemed oddly long and that perhaps the elevator algorithm system they use to call elevators needed to be looked into, I received a snappy text back saying “the elevators are perfectly fine, Mr. X”. Certainly not the way to address customer feedback Offering two stars because at least there was hot water and the blackout curtains were superb. Read less

Great location, flawless housekeeping, comfortable beds, helpful staff, and a Starbucks in the lobby. The waterfront is a short walk, and the area is full of dining options. The immediate area is quite walkable, and there are bike lanes for safe cycling.

We were in Vancouver for a concert. Hotel room was beautiful, large and very clean. Hotel is Walking distance to everything downtown, including Gastown, Yaletown and BC place. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay again.

Location was ideal to shopping and to the waterfront. Staffs were amazing and helpful. The breakfast buffet was vast with different varieties and choices. Very clean and well maintained.

Stayed one night here as our vacation was based in Seattle. Excellent customer service. Would like to see some water stations on upper floors. It’s centrally located.
