Definitely would not recommend this resort. During the stay I simply had too many issues that read as basic operational failures. It's simply not a functional hotel. Given the 7K cost of the trip I am completely and utterly frustrated. Our personal space was violated, staff laughed in our faces, and staff were directly making us miserable. Worse, when we tried to escalate these issues during our time they were unhelpful. When I reached out to customer support after the trip they ignored me. In summary I had the following issues at Sandals Barbados: Pink mold in the room; cleaning staff insisted it was part of the marble tile Unable to sleep due to the ice machine beeping for 3+ hours ( 3 complaints) Received a bill for an excursion that was not ours Staff miscommunication regarding switching rooms Staff laughed at us when we said we wanted to sleep in No working wifi the first day Nenver any towels at the pool Woken up by Staff with Privacy button enabled 7 times… By engineering to fix a fan we had not requested and was not broken By engineering to fix a slow shower we'd requested hours earlier (was never fixed) By bellhop to "check out" when we were moving rooms By housekeeping on "check out" when we were moving rooms By housekeeping knocking on the door By housekeeping entering the room By minibar service three times (One occasion we received an apology; this was the only such apology we received our whole stay) The last night I ended up leaving and I went to the Marriot Hotel. I had great food and finally got some good sleep. Read less

I don't even know where to begin, because this resort was underwhelming and overwhelming at the same time. I don't even know where to begin, because this resort was underwhelming and overwhelming at the same time. First, good luck at the airport, because NOBODY from Sandals will be greeting you, just mosey on outside and find the Sandals kiosk. Since, Royale and Barbados are connected the resort(s) are HUGE and I got lost every single day. If you don't have a butler (I did, still don't know why I needed 3) I feel for ya! Service is 3/10 and that's being generous. Hawksbill's elevator and hallways were straight out of some 80s soft horror movie: tight, damp, and dingy- smelled moldy. Our room 5209 was nice, but the shower pressure will peel your skin off. Miriam at Pariesienne, George at Butch's, and Patricia at Jerk were all so sweet. ALSO, a lady slid down wet stairs, shattering a wine glass puncturing her bicep- the medic NEVER came and it took about 20 mins to make someone get a cart to transport her. Absolutely HORRIFIC experience for me and my husband. The best thing about my stay was walking the beach during the hurricane. Literally, the first Sandals resort I have no intention of visiting again. Read less

Fao Adam Stewart We arrived home 2 days ago and I felt I'd leave a review whilst things are still fresh in my mind. Firstly I'd like to start with the positives; - The resort is clean and tidy (staffed tried so hard to clean the resort after hurricane Beryl) - The majority of staff were friendly and helpful especially Al and Hidie - The pools and beach are beautiful - The food at the restaurants were fairly good, not as good as I was expecting but there was always something to eat. The jerk shack is a lovely place for a light lunch! - We didn't use the spa but it looked beautiful and staff were very helpful and friendly Now for the negatives; - To say this is a prestigious sandals resort I expected better and much more luxury for example there were no slippers or robes. Do not waste money on upgrading to a honey moon suite as these appear to be a standard room with no added luxury. I might have expected petals on the bed or something which states honeymoon but nope nothing and other than having a bath tub on the balcony the room was basic and it parts needed updating (for example around the air conditioning unit there was large cracks and holes and water dripping down the wall. The grout in the shower had mould spots and it genuinely felt like your bog standard 3-4 star hotel. - The resort is huge and what was so disappointing was trying to find your bearings and navigate around both resorts which should not have been that difficult. A simple map of the resort would have helped and fairly cheap to provide on paper or on the tv. - Surprisingly with all the restaurants available there was no room service. Furthermore conversations with other holidaymakers turned out that even those with butler and concierge service when ordering food said it either took hrs or didn't turn up at all! - It felt outdated having to wait for the reservation lady to be at her desk to book restaurants; the reservation lady was rude and unhelpful. The book she gave us with the different menus needed updating as the restaurant Spices no longer provides dinner despite the menu for it looking delicious - There was no waiter service around the pool and at times staff were very unhelpful. An example being watching the euros, a number of fans asked kindly for the game to be put on one of the many tvs outside the lovers lane bowling alley and staff either didn't try or just said it couldn't happen despite seeing football on the tvs at different times - I am mindful that it's the Caribbean and that things may move at a slower pace however there's slower and then there's a Glacial almost borderline rude Pace. Staff seem to overlook the simple gesture of letting you know they've seen you and will be with you at some point. - Reception staff seemed to lack basic knowledge of the resort for example not knowing when late check out is or how much it costs, not knowing what food is served at the restaurants; evening entertainment and any additional questions asked about the hurricane Overall, Ithink the resort is very much in need of a refurbishment. I believe the resort remains relevant because of its name as opposed to the amenities and service offered. Having travelled all over the world and with different hotel chains I believe this one in particular as a 5 star would not stand a chance against a Royalton or Hardrock which are by far more modern and customer service focused. This was my first stay at a Sandals however for reference I have stayed at many other all inclusive comparable hotels in this part of the world. I have come away feeling pretty disappointed with the experience and really feel that you are paying for the Sandals name. There are so many other hotel chains that offer so much more for a fraction of the price. The positives first: The food and drink were fantastic. I enjoyed every meal that we had and no problems getting the reservations that we requested. Restaurant staff are very attentive and always checked for allergies. There are many pools to choose from through the day, each with its own atmosphere so I am sure that there would be something to suit everybody. The hotel staff work hard trying to maintain the vast grounds. The gym is probably the best hotel gym I have ever seen. The negatives: The hotel lacks the ‘wow’ factor. The room was grubby and smelly. This was acknowledged by the staff and the only solution offered was to spray some air freshener (and even that never happened) The furniture and sun loungers throughout are again grubby and smelly. The sun loungers are also pretty uncomfortable! Tables were not wiped and dirty glasses were left about. Heavy machinery would operate right outside the room before 7am and through the day so relaxing was pretty difficult. Although the beach is pure white sand it is very short so long beach walls are not possible. The sea grass was piled high and very smelly during my visit. Staff worked hard to try and clear it but again this involved heavy machinery on the beach . I couldn’t recommend this hotel and would not return. Read less
