The room is clean and serviced regularly, with lots of storage space and a comfortable king-size bed. The views are awesome, regardless of which room you are in. We had 2 rooms for our stay, both overlooking the pool. Ours had stairs from our room, which was convenient for a daily dip, or the main pool where drinks are served in Drifters. Food was superb, very Bajan which is tasty and varied. Didn't go a-la-carte in Rachel's as food in Drifters was perfect. The beach at The Savannah is a Turtle laying destination so we were thrilled on our first night to see over 300 hatchlings. Overall I would recommend, for the staff, cleanliness of the hotel and location. We will definitely be back... only downside is 10 days isn't long enough.. Read less

WE NEVER THOUGHT WE WOULD HAVE WITNESSED HELL ON EARTH!!!!!!!! EXTEMELY,EXTEMELY RUDE RECEPTION STAFF We have read previous reviews and we had our reservations about visiting this hotel but for the guest who said they had a good time we unfortunately cannot relate or the good reviewers are being paid. The reception staff enjoyed saying no- in fact everything we asked was greeted with a no! Very unhelpful and uninterested as were most of all not customer friendly. We visited the reception on several occasions during our stay which ended couple days ago and the staff failed to engage in our request and needs to us we felt as we were inconveniencing them as they were all very pensive, dreadful and a disgrace to be in reception customer service jobs. We witnessed staff arguing amongst themselves and complaining that their system has been changed and they were left to figure it out not knowing what to do. We then asked for the leader or manager of the front desk, who did not know how to help us as she was also amongst the staff complaining. Marsha you and your staff need training then you can revert to your post in all our years of travelling we have never witness such a dysfunctional reception team. These staff leaves you feeling very turned around and does not solve any issues. We believe robots would have treated us nicer. We was very disappointed with this hotel. We though this was a 4* hotel, which we would rate 2*. at best. This is not a hotel for anyone that cannot climb stairs. We had to climb 4 flights of stairs to our room which my husband has bad knees and by the end of the holiday is in lots of pain. The lone elevator is only on one side and moves slower than if you are actually climbing the stairs. Empty glasses and plates were left for days at the bottom of the stairs. We did encounter rain which then led to the roof of the building that went into our wardrobe leaking and we had puddles of water in the wardrobe and on the floor in our room making all our clothes damp and started to smell. The room we had was okay, but so basic, it felt like a hotel or hostel I stayed in when I was in my early 20’s not 50’s, water runs very slowly and has cheap shampoos and soaps. The internet connection was to be honest and fair great for at least ten minutes at a time, constantly fading in and out and one having to regularly reboot. Slightly surly service in the restaurant, some pleasant, others not so. Beverly very rude. Food very very underwhelming, and so we decided to eat out most nights, as the hotel was depressing. A bit more money would have been more prudent and next time we would stay at a much nicer resort, as the island is stunning and this hotel really should be avoided at all cost. This was supposed to be a special holiday of lovely memories but just left bad memories. Sorry for the review, but I’m just been brutally honest - really if you’re looking find somewhere else!!! Front desk is a HORROR to visit (excepting the one Kerricnia). THEY MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE BOTHERING OR INCONVIENCING THEM. Their default answer is “no” to anything. They provide the opposite of service: They do their best not to help you. I call these types of customer service people "Lords of Little" folks who love the feeling of power they get from controlling some tiny aspect of your life. Anything that makes their time at work go less smoothly such as, for example, being asked a question makes them angrier. They say as little as possible as obnoxiously as possible, to encourage you to fend for yourself. No wonder this hotel is so poor and disorganized. Our group arranged a catamaran trip with the lovely Donna at the tour desk, thanks to her. We came to the reception the evening of our trip and requested to have some beach towels the very rude receptionist Akeila informed us we needed to go back down by drifters to collect the towels even after we informed her that our pick up would soon be at the hotel. This miserable and cold young lady then told us after explaining our plight in a very aggressive tone she cant help us ,no one is not available to get the towels and how we should start walking to drifters before our pick up gets here. We were all left shocked as to what just transpired as the level of service and unprofessionalism which is horrifying. This young lady definitely needs a back of the house job you will loose customers with her up front with her very snobby attitude. A few moments later we received the beach towels from the other receptionist who was there and witnessed the situation Kerricnia. On our departure we did not get to properly thank this young lady as she always tried to accommodate us during our stay, your calmness and patience makes you unmatched. We asked for this young lady when we checked out and we were informed she was no longer with the hotel and the receptionist staff started laughing which left us confused as to why the hotel would have their best receptionist fired. We had interaction with the lone nice receptionist, this young lady knows her service Kerricnia. Management needs to know that you are a beacon at the reception with your shining light (you needed to be on every shift). Teach your colleagues to be nice. The other are seriously very cold and cynical. We will not be back to the hotel, the arrival welcome, not a welcome we felt as if we were invading a space and pleading to be accommodated. We were told we would have received a welcome drink however we did not. We arranged taxis however when we arrived at the reception, they were not book leaving us to be late for our meetings. We had several hiccups during our stay however the encounters with the reception team were the most horrific (this does not include Kerricina she is by herself as her standards are way above the others this young lady for Customer Service Trainer). Breakfast buffet on days the selection was very limited although I did get a freshly cooked omelette that was delicious, not the tasty Caribbean breakfast I was looking forward too! The food in the restaurant is outrageously POOR some buffet selections rubbery There is supposed to be an outdoor Chopstix noodle restaurant but it was never opened during our stay. This hotel does not meet my expectations of a four star property its two star at best and need to take note as it does nothing to enhance their reputation. When first arriving in the room, I noticed there was a large volume of mosquitos we then asked reception for the room to be sprayed but this was never done. Information hardly seems to be passed on to departments. Overall this was not the lovely Caribbean holiday I was expecting, I was really disappointed with the hotel and I will not return or recommend it to any of my friends & family. I hope the owners/investors can dig deep into their pockets and fork out some money to give the hotel staff the training they desperately needs. Read less

Booked a 7 night stay at Savannah Beach Hotel (Barbados) for my birthday with my partner. CONS Upon arrival when checking in the reception staff (3 women) was not friendly at all! They seemed annoyed that they had to do the check in. This straight off gave me a terrible feeling that I made a mistake choosing this hotel. Once checked in we had to take the lift downstairs to our room (shout out to Junior - they guy who helped us with our luggage and the only person who held a conversation with us the WHOLE week). There was 2 elevators however only one works which was extremely slow and veryy hot inside. When we arrived in our room it was a twin room, which was quite unfortunate when booking a couples holiday. The beds were more of a small double. In our room there was sooooo many mosquitos. I travel often and stay at many 4* hotels but I have never seen so many mosquitos in a hotel room. I suffered countless of mosquitos bites, it seemed when you get rid of some, new ones appear as though there was a nesting. When asked if they could spray mosquito repellent in the room, I was told I would need to purchase some from the gift shop. The room door does not shut all the way to the bottom, it has a crack. Due to this insects will occasionally end up in the room (cockroach) I had to seal the door with a towel to try and avoid this. The toilet stopped working one morning and the bathroom and balcony door are very dodgy. The food was terrible! Although we came on the breakfast plan, we thought we would pay for dinner at Drifters the day of our arrival which was around £37 each without drinks. This was suppose to be a buffet dinner with a veryyyy limited choice of food. 1 type of chicken, 1 type of fish, rice and macaroni pie. Extremely disappointing especially as it was also disgusting we could only eat half of one chicken and a pinch of macaroni and still had to pay £74. Breakfast (buffet) was slightly better but was the same thing every day and would often be cold chowey. On my last morning, I saw a cockroach go into the cupboard near the drink area. Also you would have to check in to be seated for the buffet style breakfast which was away from the buffet. Very inconvenient daily especially when there were lines. There was no set times for room service cleaning. Sometimes they will come at 10am and other days it was be at 5pm. We would often go out in the morning and come back around 3/4pm and still there was no cleaning done in our room. When the room cleaning did take place they would not clean the balcony area or change the bed linen, they only made the beds but not changed the bottom sheets (terrible). Throughout our whole stay no staff would speak to us unless they had too I.e ordering food etc… but no conversations. They same very within themselves and their own conversation with colleagues. It was the most uncomfortable and awkwardness I have ever felt in a hotel. If there was a problem I would feel nervous to contact reception as their attitudes were unapproachable and seemed like we were annoying them if we had questions. The day we were leaving, I called reception at 9am to discuss late check out options for 1 and a half hours later (1:30pm rather than 12pm) expectedly I assumed their was a price for this and asked reception a price however I was informed the manager is in a meeting they will get back to me.. an hour later I didn’t hear anything so I called back.. I was told I can stay until 1:30pm but they can not give me a price until the manger is available. Around 11am I called for the 3rd time after not hearing anything back 2 hours later, the receptionist seemed very annoyed and stated I have to wait. At this point I was getting very anxious as it was close to check out time I wanted confirmation of price so I can decide if this is something I wanted to do.. I call back again at 11:45am and was told again I have to wait however I kept stating please can you at least give me a rough estimate as I don’t was to stay past check out and forced to pay something I may not want or afford. The receptionist then confirmed (rudely) the extra hour and a half would cost me £100 + (converted in English pounds). Which I declined straight away and had to rush to check out in less than 15 mins whilst wearing swimsuits. At check out, once again the receptionist was very unwelcoming and miserable, however was one of the male receptionist told us we can use the complimentary room for 30 mins to get washed and changed. The complimentary room was on the floor above the reception, unfortunately the aircon remote was missing so it was extremely hot. We asked can we move rooms, the male receptionist assisted with this and we were able to get dressed for our flight. The beach was terrible! Avoid avoid avoid! It is covered with rocks, large and small with made it impossible to swim. No one swam in the water because it was impossible to get into. We attempted, everyone started at us like we were crazy however paying so much money to stay on the beach I thought we atleast got to try. Terrible mistake, it was painful to try and cost and ended up getting scratches and cuts on my feet & legs). My partner emailed the hotel before our arrival to ask for any birthday services. We were informed that the hotel will provide complimentary cake and balloons however this was never received or mentioned. No entertainment, very very boring. PROS I loved the layout of the main pool. Having had a pool access room was very convenient for someone who loves swimming. There was two pool but both only go up to 3ft 6inchs. The pool would often get bugs which is likely with outdoor pools however for a 4* you would expect regular pool cleans and insect removers… one day there was a crab in the pool, I had to alert maintance. Pool tiles missing, you can see the pools have not been maintained. The maintance staff were the only friendly staff in the whole resort. Nice location- quick drive from the airport and a local shop nearby and a plaza a 10-15 min walk away. Close to Carlisle Beach (very beautiful white sand, turquoise waters beach) Overall, I would never ever stay here again and would never recommend anyone staying here. The whole building needs refurbishing, you will occasionally see dead crabs in the hall ways and no one will pick it up for hours upon hours. This is more of a 2-3 star at best. Please train your staff to be friendly and approachable, I have never witnessed such terrible customer service and uncomfortableness staying in a hotel. I can honestly say I could not wait to get home. Read less
