Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa

Montego Bay, Jamaica

Virgin rating

The hotel

Lying on a beautiful, long stretch of private beach, the Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa sits within 400 lush acres and is home to an 18th-century sugar plantation. A popular feature here is the iconic swimming pool but guests (kids' especially) also love the Sugar Mill Falls Waterpark, which is the largest in Jamaica. Why not grab a tube and float down the ‘lazy river’ or try one of the slides. There’s also a daily kids' club, leaving you with time to recharge in the full-service spa, or why not try out the Championship golf course. A variety of restaurant options with fine dining and sophisticated wine lists are on-site, with the newly renovated Rum Factory a particular hit, as is the Three Palms, overlooking the beautifully landscaped golf course.

My husband and I stayed for 6 days in late September 2024. We had a wonderful time. From arrival the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The resort is clean and very well maintained. We enjoyed our time at the lazy river, as well as in the carribiean sea. I have a pretty serious gluten allergy as well as an egg sensitivity. I never had a problem eating. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I could eat safely. The drinks were plentiful and very tasty. The rum punch is very strong. 😁 The jerk chicken with scotch bonnet was amazing. I could have eaten it everyday. The rum factory was delicious. Best food there, hands down. We ate at the Italian restaurant as well. Super tasty and very accommodating. A few things that could be inporoved. 1. The air conditioner is so loud when turing on and off. 2. Room service was very tasty and great to have, but it took almost 2 hrs sometimes. We plan to come back next October. 3. We felt like the breakfast buffet needed some additional variety. 4. Check-in was so slow. Like over 2hrs after a long day of travel. We did get an upgraded room for the wait. We like to tip as a sign of gratitude and to show respect for the service given. It was very much appreciated by the staff. We plan to retun next October. 😊 Read less

Prior to this trip, we’d been to HRH 4~5 times. Our last visit was about 5 years ago. We had a good time, the buffet and other walk~in food options were good, rooms clean & we felt safe. The overall experience has decreased slightly. We were approached on arrival by the timeshare/vacation membership people who seemed annoyed that we declined. A lot of resorts do this & I find it irritating especially after a long day travelling. Ala carte restaurants were difficult to book and not stellar. The Three Palms restaurant was previously included but is now an extra charge (about $38 USD pp). We had a resort view room. Our balcony was level with part of the roof (4th floor). The view was not appealing. We could see the ocean and the front of the property but had to look at the wet roof to do it. On previous trips we’ve had a resort view (closer to ocean part of the building) that did not overlook the roof & found this much better. We’ve also had partial ocean view rooms. Some overlook the water park & others the golf course. Golf course side has nice views. BOTTOM LINE. Resort is satisfactory although the overall experience has decreased. We will return if we can book at a good price. We would book a partial ocean view room next time. Read less
