There is a workers strike occurring, management seems completely irresponsible of hospitality of staff despite making multiple requests to speak with them to rectify some issues noted with the room, service and the noise from the strike. They are hiding and don’t care about guests including club members like myself who have bought into their unlimited vacation club. WARNING - DO NOT BOOK. Save your money and go somewhere else!! Rundown hotel, room stinks, can’t use water from the pipes to brush your teeth, food sucks. No water or coke at bars, no towels if you go swimming, long wait times to check in, have breakfast, and on top of all, management that is not responsive and irresponsible for supposedly a 5 star resort. I cannot even justify 1 star for this place. Read less

The food, drinks, hotel room, entertainment, ambience, and people were awesome! I even had a room to myself and enjoyed it! It was a wonderful time to celebrate so many milestones in my friend/family group and we enjoyed so many events together or solo. It was also really cool to see the legendary Jerk Cart Man and Coconut Water Cart Man make their appearances and cater to the visitors! During my stay, I met so many pleasant, fun-loving people and I was enjoying every second of my stay at the resort. It was also awesome to see stray cats chilling on the resort (I'm a cat lover!). I was a little sad to leave the resort on my last day there.I even said "Bye" to the room I was staying in and the key card before I left with my belongings back to the USA. The hotel room's jacuzi tub and walk-in shower were amazing! The water temperature and pressure were excellent. I definitely loved my stay here and plan to come back in the future. I definitely want to check out the excursions and more of what Jamaica has to offer, mon! Read less

Also I want to thank Lish-Ann who waited on my party at the Oceana Restaurant. This young lady was magnificent and deserves a raise. Also made reservation for hibachi but they claimed they weren't told meanwhile I've had this trip planned for over 8 months. Other pro: 1. Grill by the beach was outstanding 2. Blue Mountain and Oceana food were great 3. Buffet for breakfast. Con: 1. Need top self liquor at pool bar 2. Room service is terrible. Takes way too long to get food. 3. Better entertainment beside the club and piano bar at night. 4. Improve day time entertainment by the pool. Read less

The scenery was beautiful and the room was beautiful. That’s it for positives. Many issues and boring in my opinion. The most lively was the 2 weddings that took place. Absolutely love Jamaica but was asleep most nights by 9:30pm. There were several staff members that lack professionalism. I had one man ask if I wanted to be with him and if I liked it with a condom or not. Several of the staff members tried to bum cigarettes. My experience was subpar and out of respect will keep this experience a “Secret”. Read less

I was not impressed and won't be returning! Too many other beautiful places to see. The beach's view was obstructed by man-made rock walls. The beautiful turquoise color ends quickly due to rock and reef. I fell in love with Secrets Maroma - Cancun, therefore I expected much more from Secrets St. James. I heard it was recently bought by Hyatt and has gone downhill ever since. What a shame. I hope Hyatt hasn't ruined the Cancun location. The staff seemed grumpy overall. Be sure to tip; it's expected from their mannerisms. The food was terrible at all the restaurants. Just a few examples: a ribeye steak was hardly a ribeye (maybe sirloin and not top sirloin at that; I couldn't cut it), the fajitas were more like cafeteria worker fajitas, the hot sauce: Pace Picante probably right out of the jar, haha. I always look forward to the omelet bar at all-inclusives. They were awful both days; the eggs and bacon were overcooked. I tried something else day three. The jerk chicken at the Barefoot Grill was the best item they had going for them. The coffee at the Coco Cafe was fantastic. If you like rum punch and pina coladas, you're okay on drinks, anything else (bloody Mary, old fashion, mango margarita, mojito) wasn't worth drinking. It doesn't feel good writing such a critical review, but it's worth the time if hard working people like me might have a better vacation experience because of it. Cliff notes: service felt forced or over the top cheesy, food and drinks were mediocre at best, beach view is tiny. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere! Read less
