Essence at the Fives Beach

We originally invested in this boutique hotel concept at it's birth. Location is spectacular, access to airport ideal, and the possibility of considering retirement options made this a realistic possibility. Service was at that time excellent. Unfortunately new alliances, poor management, cost containment, local competition from other all- inclusive hotels, has unfortunately created a scenario where service is poor, quality of cuisine has declined, and inexperienced lower staff workers are overwhelmed. At this time i cannot recommend the Fives Hotel as a vacation option. I have shared a constructive critique with hotel management and their "time-share-like" investment partners. I came to the Fives Beaches for my Bachelorette party with 6 of my friends. I had the most amazing experience and the best time ever. The food was delicious, the resort was gorgeous and the staff were absolutely amazing. We had amazing service from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The bellhop was so helpful when we arrived and greeted us with champagne. Our room wasn’t ready because we arrived way before check in so we got our bathing suits on and spent the day at the pool. We met the bartender, William that day. He was AMAZING!!! William was so kind and his drinks were so delicious. We loved seeing William everyday and he greeted us with such a welcoming smile. He remembered all of our names by the first day we were there! On the second night we were by the beach and met Daniel! He was the most kind and helpful worker on the resort. Daniel spoke excellent English and was able to help us with any questions we had. Daniel is a very special person that has a kind heart and smile. Overall our experience was a 10 and I am so sad that our trip has come to an end. I will absolutely return to the Five Beaches!!! Read less

We had a wedding here and the wedding team went above and beyond to make sure that my now husband and I had the wedding of our dreams. Lulu and Barbra were great and took excellent care of us. Whenever we needed something, they were there. They communicated with us great and made sure we understood everything. They were available 24/7 with WhatsApp communication and made sure we had a great time and were taken care of. Our wedding was the wedding of our dreams because of them. Thank you ladies! Read less

Had an amazing time at the Fives Beach! We were here for 5 nights across June - July 2024; We had 70 guests and a room block that included about 30 rooms. RESORT: - The resort is beautiful and the service is excellent right off the van from the airport. - Check in was pretty simple; we pre-checked in online before the trip; I’m unsure of whether this expedited the process or not. - The resort bracelets are also the room keys which is super convenient for me. - They have carts to take you around the resort, however, if the timing does not work out, the locations are still walkable. From our room to the beach (which were on opposite ends of the resort), it took about 12 minutes to walk. - I spent most of my time at the beach and main pool, but there are other pools that are less crowded. - Loved seeing the animals walking around freely around the resort. - CONS: Reservations are very difficult to obtain. Best bet may be to go early and put your name down for your party. Flavors, the buffet restaurant, was easiest to be seated in, in my opinion. ROOMS: - Room types in our party included: one-bedroom penthouse, Deluxe, one-bedroom suite, two-bedroom suite, one-bedroom swim-up. - All guests were very happy with their rooms and mentioned the large size of the rooms. - Personally, we loved our room. It had plenty of space, had excellent turn-down service each day, and all the drinks were also refilled daily. Room included a safe that we used daily, slippers, and an umbrella for rainy days. - Cons: some guests needed to reprogram their room keys more than once, pillows are VERY soft, shower took a little bit to get used to. WEDDING: - Our ceremony took place on the Sky Deck with the cocktail immediately following after. It looked exactly how we wanted, perfect! - The cocktail immediately followed and the food was already ready to be served. - The reception took place one floor below in the Sky Bar. Again, it was set up perfectly and exactly as we asked for (we brought our own table numbers, favors, and name tags/place cards for guests). - Our wedding coordinators were AMAZING and the true highlight of the event. From the planning stage at home to the arrival to the pre-wedding meeting to the actual wedding day, they were so efficient and friendly and simply amazing. My coordinators were Ivan Sanchez, Sofia, Ivan Cruz, and Isabel. Everything went according to schedule, and we had time to do everything we wanted. - We used the resort photographers, Timeless Photography, and their premium DJ and added MC services. Make-up and hair was also booked with the spa on site. - CONS: None! Overall, we feel we had the perfect wedding at the resort. Everything went so smoothly, we had an amazing time with our families, everyone felt safe and had a great time. The real highlight of the resort is the service, 100000%. Every single person greets you when they see you, says "my pleasure" when you thank them, and are overall simply incredible. Probably one of the best resorts I have visited in Mexico. The accommodation, layout of the hotel complex, facilities, beach and pools I could not find fault. There is an incredible diversity of restaurants in the evening and equally the lunch and breakfast options were great - being hungry in this hotel was never going to happen !! I especially liked the activities around the resort.. in particular - morning yoga was a great wake up experience with an instructor from England who, despite the weather, always found an appropriate venue to take us through her excellent class. I also want to give a mention to Peter (Pedro I think) the tennis coach, his one hour morning classes was really enjoyable. I really enjoyed the entertainment in the evening... yes we had some bad weather, but the manager ( i think his name was Victor) was brilliant in pulling something together every night despite the challenges of Tropical Storm Alberto... he also saved the day by organising the broadcast of the the England Euro football matches in the Gin Bar !!! Finally, the customer experience from all the staff - dining, bars, spa facilities was excellent and I know they probably don't get much of a mention, but the cleaners and grounds maintenances staff worked so hard to create a truly lovely environment in an often challenging weather situation.
