I had high hopes for my stay at Secrets Moxche, especially given its 5-diamond rating, but unfortunately, my experience fell short on several fronts. We had a GOH applied to our reservation before arriving. When we arrived, we were not allowed a room upgrade due to the hotel being over-booked per the front desk. We were promised a follow-up to see if we could upgrade a day or two later and this was never follow-up on by the front desk. We were not given a beach bag and upgraded mini-bar at check-in like all preferred guests and had to actually request them. During our stay there were storms and power outages. Knowing the weather is not under the hotels control is understandable, however it seemed as if there were no back-up generators as the power and water stayed off for a longer than expected time. Our ceiling in the room was leaking and patches of drywall fell down on the floor.  We found the drinks to be consistently watered down, which is quite disappointing for a resort of this caliber. Whether at the poolside bar or in the dining areas, the cocktails lacked the richness and depth I expect from a fine establishment. Regarding the food, I had anticipated an exquisite dining experience, but the reality was quite different. While the ambiance of the restaurants was pleasant, the menu items I tried did not live up to the 5-diamond expectations. Flavors were good, but not outstanding, and the presentation seemed rushed. There were moments where I felt like I was dining at a mid-tier hotel rather than a luxurious resort. The food we had at Secrets Akumal the prior year was better than Moxche. People were putting towels on beach chairs and lounge areas early in the morning and leaving them there for hours unattended. The staff was doing nothing to prevent this, leaving little to no available areas to sit by the pool for those of us that were trying to be considerate to others. We were told this was not allowed by the staff, but it was being done anyway and not being enforced. One of the most disruptive and disappointing aspects of my stay was the noise from a very large wedding reception that we were told was for one of the hotel owners relatives. The music was blasting until 4 AM, creating an incredibly uncomfortable situation for guests trying to sleep. While I understand that hosting events is part of a hotel's function, the lack of consideration for other guests was palpable. To make matters worse, it seemed like this resort is frequently used for wedding parties, which often closed off large portions of the hotel. This not only affected access to amenities and restaurants but also created an atmosphere that felt more like a bustling party venue than a refuge for relaxation. To give an example of the limited amenities mentioned above; on our last day at the resort, we went to have lunch at a restaurant and it was blocked off for a large party. Disappointed, we and many others were forced to eat at another restaurant not of our choosing and it was obvious the food was thrown together last minute. The staff looked like they were dealing with the situation the best they could, but they were obviously dealt with poor management of the entire situation.  Overall, my experience Secrets Moxche was disappointing. While there were certainly aspects that showed promise, such as the attentive staff and beautiful location, the watered-down drinks, subpar food, disruptive noise from wedding festivities, lack of consideration and respect for general guests and limited access to promised amenities overshadowed those positives. For a resort boasting 5 diamonds, I expected much more. Read less

This resort is excellent. Service was top-notch and the food was way better than most all-inclusives we've experienced. It was especially great for me as a vegetarian with a full dedicated vegan menu at each of the resturants that had a wide variety of options and was unique to each of them. Even had some dishes I'd never had before and it was all delicous. Plenty of meal/seafood based options as well that my husband enjoyed. We appreciated not needing reservations for meals and that room-service was included and easy to order from tablet in room as well. The pools are also a highlight with something for everyone - from a mock beach wading pool to pools with hammocks, infinity pool, pool with swim up bar, plenty of loungers both in the shallow water as well as on the pool decks and more. Resort was fully booked for our stay but didn't feel too crowded. Highly recommend a stay here. Read less

Beautiful resort but improvements could be made to enhance the guest experience. The rooms were beautiful, hotel was new, the beach was average, the pool entertainment was geared towards an older crowd and they only serve straight shots instead of allowing you to order mixed shots. Making this vacation average. I would have enjoyed some more lively entertainment. Especially around the pool. A foam party or DJ playing classic rock or age appropriate music would have been fun but instead they had live performers playing sad music for an hour or two. There are many pools at this location so they have the ability to offer quiet areas to those not looking for more lively entertainment. The buffet and Asian restaurant were amazing but the other restaurants have room for improvement. Most staff are friendly and helpful. Overall this resort was beautiful but it may not have been the resort for me. Read less
