The greenery was just as pretty as pictured online and the walk onto the beach was picturesque, with clear blue waters. The view from the Adult Only Pool, which leads directly onto the beach was lovely. From the moment we stepped foot onto the property we were greeted pleasantly and given a tour of the resort as we were escorted to our room. Service was spectacular throughout the hotel, with the staff catering to all of our needs and/or requests. Dining service at the Almond Tree was exceptional and the food was delish! Nikisha was our waitress for four days for breakfast and every day she was very attentive and helpful to my husband and I. The beach was absolutely gorgeous with clean sand and beautiful clear water, and the pools were just perfect. We will definitely visit again with the rest of our family! Read less

Overall the island is not as hospitable as other Caribbean countries we visited. Kelly at the front desk was great and attentive, very helpful. One person who stole the show was Suren R, he was very hospitable, very engaging and gave us a lot of info about the island that the shore club did not offer. Needs more dining options, either places closed very early or you were regulated to 1 restaurant as the other opens from Thur-Sun. In closing, as others have mentioned, they need to work on being more attentive, engaging and hospitable especially for the amount of money that it cost to stay here. Although, we made the best of our time, I doubt that we would return Read less

Shout out to: Mary (the omelet maker extraordinaire!); and breakfast team: Delores, Natasha, Youseline, and Niyeca. Beautiful smiles and service, and lovely. Bell staff/concierge/shuttle/jacks of all trade shout out to Junior for his fabulous enthusiasm and assistance and a big shout out to Wisley who lives by the business motto: “the answer is yes, what’s your question.” The beach staff are equally fab- Paulinus, Evans, and Trey…. In each of their special ways, they made us feel special. Olivia, a front desk manager was very attentive & understanding when it came to an issue. She was kind, polite and aimed to please with accommodation and providing choices for resolution. We cannot say enough about this resort or the professionalism and friendliness of the teams. We would definitely visit The Shore Club again! The only “downside” to this property is that there are no ocean view rooms and all of the ocean front rooms are very large suites, are multi bedroom and not designed for just 2 people. We have a 10 day stay at The Shore Club in February 2024, a stay which has left us with mixed feelings. On the positive side: 1. This is a beautiful hotel in a great location, and the grounds are impeccably kept. 2. The rooms are large and well proportioned, the cleaning service is efficient. The beds are extremely comfortable and the bathroom has a lot of welcome amenities. 3. The beach is amazing and the turquoise waters and white sand are wonderful. 4. My 11 year old son truly enjoyed his time and his activities at the Kid’s club, which were all complimentary. 5. The lap pool and exercise area are fantastic. They were a calm and serene place, which was often overlooked by other guests. That being said, we expect from a 5-star hotel, a level of consistency in service and excellence in food/beverages, which was often lacking. Here are a few examples: 1. The main pool is too small for the amount of people on site when the hotel is close to full occupancy. It is worth noting that half of the area around the pool has been restricted by the hotel and transformed into cabanas, which -if you want to use- need to be rented on top, at the rate of USD250 a day… Additionally, part of the pool surface was abrasive, and our son injured himself several times. Nothing serious, but this should not happen. 2. Overall, the prices in the restaurants are just too high for some of the food being served and the quality was often uneven. The 15% service charge imposed, and governmental tax of 12%, means you always end up being charged a third more than the prices you see on the menu. 3. The food options were overall disappointing. The Sui-Ren fine dining option was excellent, but the other venues were pretty average. a. Some of the food served was excellent, like the chocolotate molten lava cake or Nasi Goreng, and some was inedible, like the Valhrona tart – stale, poorly made and barely any flavours. Both were expensive, being charged 18 or 19 dollars (plus service charge and governmental taxes…). b. Only very few items on the menu reflected the local culinary traditions, like the jerk chicken option. Otherwise, you had uninspiring, uneventful fare of burgers, hot dogs, fries and the like. You couldn’t see any difference if you were sitting at a Diner in the US, apart from the sushi. c. The pricing was off and often inconsistent. At the almond tree, they charge USD35 for spaghetti bolonaise (plus service charge and governmental taxes) for a pretty average quality but massive bowl of pasta. How that can sit next to pizzas for $24, or a chicken wrap for $30, or a Nasi Goreng option for the same price ($35) at Sui-Ren, remains a mystery to us. d. In our experience, it is simply not normal to be charged extra for coffee at breakfast, when you have contracted a bed and breakfast rate. We have never seen anything like this anywhere in the world. A complimentary breakfast should be just that – complimentary. The feeling that hotel management tries to squeeze every penny possible out of you is hard to shake. A bed and breakfast rate should include coffee ! e. The ready made available juices come out of cans instead of being fresh (although it is possible to order fresh juices, if the juicing machine is working and you can find someone to operate it…) and the selection of yoghurt is nothing short of shocking. Some of the food at breakfast is reasonably good, like the eggs and pastry selection, but some other items, like the waffles and pancakes, were simply inedible partly because they were prepared in advance rather than being made to order. A 5-star hotel should make cooked breakfast of that sort to order. f. The fruit bar was rather poor. Overall, the breakast selection would be acceptable for 3.5 star hotel. g. Aside from the food options, the staff at the Almond Tree - where breakfast was served - all looked pretty disinterested. On occasion, they would be friendly if you really made an effort to interact with them, but none of them - except one - was professional or really understood the concept of customer service. h. While customer attention overall was lacking, one notable exception was at Sui-Ren. We did find a few outstanding pearls there, such as Cassidy and Jessica, who are to be highly commended for their extraordinary service: friendly, professional, understated and just perfect. Eddie also worked hard to provide us with great service, for which we are most thankful. 4. The Management was highly noticeable by its absence. No one from management once asked us how things were going during our entire 10 day stay. There are no meet and greet events, for example an evening a week where you can meet the management over drinks and canapes. In fact, the only time I met a duty manager was on my penultimate day, when I asked for a late check-out. The person I spoke to was extremely nice and clearly attentive to my needs. He granted my request, when a staff reception person the day before had flatly refused it, warning me – rudely – that if I was late checking out, I “would be charged for an extra day”. This kind of inconsistency in service can enduringly negatively affect the impression left on guests. 5. Asking guests, as they are checking out, if their stay was “ok” is just too late when there are so many shortcomings to report on. Management should check on their guests every few days, not just at point of exit. On this particular point, it is worth noting that the service we received from one member of staff at reception was shocking. She was clearly not interested in what I had to say. While I was explaining to her some of the things which had given me cause for concern, she started to look away, looking bored and distracted by other things happening in the reception area. I had to remind her that basic courtesy required that she paid attention when I spoke to her. This shouldn’t happen in a luxury hotel: it is a basic requirement of service, and it makes me wonder how seriously management takes the proper training and supervision of staff. Compensation may also be an issue. 6. Sadly, it wasn’t just at point of departure that my reception experience was poor, at arrival as well. After a 12-hour flight, we were not offered water let alone a welcome drink, when other guests had been, and interest in us was perfunctary at best. This is not what we expect from a 5-star hotel, which prides itself on excellent service. 7. The beach service was very inconsistent, varying from good to non-existent; on one occasion, the drinking water I was promised hadn’t been delivered more than three hours after I arrived at the beach… I had to go and fetch it myself. I spoke to JP about it, the facilities supervisor, a wonderful person trying to turn around the quality of services to guests, along with his excellent assistant Suren. 8. At the beach or the pool, guests are given buckets with 4 small water bottles per party – 4 small single use plastic bottles. We would expect a hotel of this level to be more environmentally conscious, and to have a better policy in relation to the use of towels (they were always replaced in our room, whether or not we would have wanted to use them again). Despite this, Louis, at the main pool, provided us with excellent service. 9. Last but not least, the hotel tried to charge my credit card without my knowledge and permission while I was there. When I raised the issue with reception staff, they denied doing it, and when I provided proof, the individual on duty seemed utterly disinterested. Her behaviour in fact bordered on rude. And as I left, there remains a question as to whether someone with access to my card details at the hotel tried to commit theft. A great feeling to have, as you board the taxi to return to the airport for your flight home ! We love Turks & Caicos but we will not be returning to The Shore Club. In short, it is just simply not good enough, given what they pretend to be, the shortcomings we experienced and the price points they practice. The Management needs to be hands on, and lead by example; they need to train their staff, and communicate more, both with their staff and with guests. So many of the staff openly complained about the lack of communication from Management. Deserving of a special mention as we close this review: Jessica and Cassidy, at Sui-Ren; JP and Suren, and Louis at the pool, Edeline at Sea Grapes and Sui-Ren, and Eddie at Sui-Ren. A big thank you to them for being such lovely people and looking after us during our stay. Read less
