As a Platinum member, there are no room upgrades. The lounge is sad. Benefits not explained at time of check-in (there are none by the way). 1000 points only offered when I asked about it. And late check out entitlement not honoured. Refer to notice. This is the last time I’m staying here. This place does not belong in the Marriott portfolio/ program. Read less

The checkin Officers Ms Areej and Mariah were exceptionally hospitable, such energetic souls are vital component of hotel business. A comfortable stay, even if the rooms were a little tired and there was little outdoor space. The staff were pretty incompetent though. Check in took 40 minutes, far too long for a tired and weary traveller. We requested a non-smoking room, but got smoking rooms that hadn’t been adequately cleaned, smelling heavily of smoke and ash was in various places. We went down to waste yet more time to get this changed, and even then, one of the rooms (from the smell) had clearly been a smoking room in the recent past. It seems the only difference between smoking and non smoking is whether or not there is an ash tray present at that particular time. The floors seem to be mixed; it’s normal practice to have a floor for smoking and another for non smoking, and this should be implemented in this hotel. The replacement room we were given was a king, which was cheaper than the twin we reserved, but we were not given any refund. I didn’t realise this at the time, but had lost all fight in me - I just wanted to shower and rest. The staff were overly eager to get a tip - it was quite clear that the staff member delivering the luggage wanted one, which he wasn’t going to get since it took him 2 hours to bring it (after we got in the correct rooms and only after a phone call from me) and he didn’t know whose bag belonged to who and which room they should be taken to (we had a party of 3). The 2 hour delay to getting bags delayed my shower, which annoyed me, so no tip. The water came in glass bottles, sealed but otherwise unlabelled. This is all in the aid of saving the planet, which is all very well, but practically it’s just green washing (I would be purchasing water in plastic bottles anyway). After a day of being open, they began to smell quite bad, calling into question the provenance of the water. For goodness sake, for a £200 per night hotel, provide Evian or similar like every other hotel of this level I’ve stayed in. The executive club has to be the worst I’ve ever been in. It’s a tiny room near reception, with hardly any facilities and a very limited selection of food and beverage. I needed to do some printing - just 2 pages - and the staff member made me feel as if he was doing me a favour allowing me to use it, rather than realising that I was paying extra for access (and printing facilities were advertised as being part of the service). The printer itself was a 20 year old laser, b&w low quality. I’d expect something a bit more modern and higher quality, as is common in any decent office (they really don’t cost much to purchase and operate). When checking out, there was a mistake on the bill on the 3rd room (not the same room as we changed at the beginning of the stay due to smoke). We were over charged by 22,000 rupees (the checking staff charged us too much for the room rate) and it took 30 minutes to resolve this. It should just be a case of refunding the original mistaken transaction to my card and then issue another transaction, but apparently this is too easy and instead they wanted to wait until my colleague (whose room was the affected one) to check out several hours later and then issue a partial refund without the card holder being present. Of course, my finance department at work would simply reject this discrepancy and lack of receipt, as the amount on the bill did not correspond to the amount paid. Overall, my experience was 3/5. Marriott, you must do better. Read less
