Apsara Beachfront Resort & Villa

Khao Lak, Thailand

Virgin rating

The hotel

You could be forgiven for thinking the Apsara is only for water babies, with its beachfront setting, infinity swimming pool, villa pool, two kids' pools, pool villa upgrades, water slide and of course, the obligatory Jacuzzi. There’s the Thai cookery classes, Thai boxing, spa treatments, bike rental and kayaking to name but a few!

We had an amazing stay at the Apsara. If you can afford to stay on the villa side of the resort it's worth every penny. The villa's are spacious and beautiful, the pool area is calm and relaxing and the Napalai restaurant food is fabulous - you can eat here for all your meals there. The staff there are so wonderful and friendly too. It was easy enough to get a bed around the pool without having to get up early. The cocktails were tasty as was the coffee. We also ate at the beachfront restaurant which we had vouchers for which was nice. But I'm not sure I would have enjoyed staying on the resort side of the complex. It was a little too crowded and busy for me. An added bonus was the elephant sanctuary just a walk away. We highly recommend this activity. It was a pleasure to spend time with these wonderful animals. They appeared very well looked after and we enjoyed bathing our baby elephant Tung Tong. Biang Niang market is just a short tuk tuk ride away. I'd recommend Moo Moos drag bar. Get there early for a front row seat!! Be sure to get out and about and see this beautiful country. Read less

Travelled as a family and had our 8 year old daughter. I wouldn't recommend booking this hotel on an all-inclusive basis if travelling with children as they don't cater for them. The hotel was ok although a little tired looking and could do with an update. The sea is great for surfing however if your wanting to swim then it's a no-go as the rip… Read more

Wow - one word says it all for what I experienced there. Wow - one word says it all for what I experienced there. Fathom unending stretches of a beach, gentle waves, and crystal-clear turquoise ocean where you would just want to keep walking on the golden and soft sand (and that was exactly what we did)! Best for city dwellers like us who haven't seen such tranquillity in a long time. As you step into the hotel room, you are greeted by an ambience of comfort and warmth. A plush king-size bed with crisp linen gave us nights of restful sleep and the balcony opens into an ocean view. Beyond infrastructure, we experienced what it meant by "Thai hospitality" - warm, helpful and attentive staff at every turn, every occasion, be it at the cafeteria or housekeeping. And the Tomahawk at the Karkinos restaurant - you have to order that! It was tender, juicy and unlike steaks which harden when they get cold, this one didn't. It was taken to the level! We're so happy we can't wait to go back! Thank you everyone at Apsara! Read less
