Riverside Hotel

Fort Lauderdale, Gold Coast Beaches

Virgin rating

The hotel

Full of Old Florida charm, the Spanish tile floors and and overhead fans means that this classic hotel fits in well within the Cuban feel of Las Olas Boulevard. The road is the forefront of everything from restaurants to fashion boutiques, art galleries to bars - so it's a great alternative to the oceanfront hotels of Fort Lauderdale, and the beach is still only a 10 minute drive away! There's a wide variety of dining options available within the hotel too - with Wild Sea featuring an impressive raw bar and a creative seafood menu, all of which can be enjoyed whilst watching the yachts sail down the river. The Golden Lyon Pub and Preston's Wine and Martini Lounge both offer happy hours for a pre-dinner tipple too. If you're not planning to spend much time in your room, the Micro room offers value for money, but upgrading will give you more space to relax in for families.

The Riverside is a great location, right on the Boulevard, close to restaurants and shops. The hotel itself is charming, clean, and comfortable. The service is impeccable from the front desk to the housekeeping team. I've stayed several times now and always a top-notch experience. The Wild Sea restaurant is great, with Tammy running the bar. The pool area is beautiful and inviting with the Boathouse restaurant and bar by the pool and overlooking the river. I had a couple of cold ones at happy hour at the bar at the Boathouse this week. Beautiful setting and ice cold beer. What could go wrong? One of the servers had something going on with his hair. (He seemed to mention a hair implant to a nearby customer...) He was constantly touching it, smoothing it, twisting it...all the while handling lemon and lime wedges, rolling napkins, and handling silverware and customers' freshly-plated food. To top this off, he kept sticking his fingers in his mouth, applying lip balm of some sort, and never washing his hands. And you know he was doing it again the next day? It was very out of tune with the rest of the experience. It may be time for a little hygiene pep-talk at the Boathouse. This will not stop me from coming back. It is an outstanding property in every way. Read less

Our room was in very poor with old and damaged furniture and was smelling of paint. When we went down stairs to complain and change room the same receptionist actually said “what do you expect for the price you are paying” ! Well I expect customer service of the highest order like it used to be before and a room that did not smell of paint for a start. The whole visit was spoilt by this and the standards have dropped. Would we stay again? NO and I say that after being a customer of this hotel over 10 years. Location great but that is the only good thing I can say. Read less

This was my third stay at the Riverside. We come back every time because it’s a great old hotel with a lot of history and character. It’s beautifully maintained and not one of the enormous, cold feeling high rises so common now. The water taxi begins at the hotel. Las Olas Blvd has lots of shops and restaurants.
