The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota

Virgin rating

The hotel

The VIP vibe at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota comes from indulgences like its bay-side location, its palm-dappled pool, and its celeb-worthy dining venues. Overlooking Sarasota Bay, you can watch the water as you laze by the chic outdoor pool and whirlpool, and as you tuck into coastal cuisine, cocktails, and craft beers at Jack Dusty. Venture across the John Ringling Causeway to Lido Key, where you'll find the hotels beach club, in the form of a tiki bar, alongside seaside-styled Ridley’s Porch restaurant, right on the soft sands (you may even get to enjoy it from your private balcony, as some have marina views). The luminary luxuries continue back at the hotel with opulent spa treatments - in a newly renovated spa might we add - and access to the exclusive Ritz-Carlton Golf Club.

As world travelers, my husband and I have a taste for luxury, and know the most reputable hotels with the best reputations. The Ritz Carlton is a well known brand that we have always loved and had the best experiences in all areas of the property..from the rooms to the service. This is our 10th trip at this location in Sarasota, and what a HUGE disappointment !!! From the moment we checked in when the rude front desk person said our reservation didn't show that we requested a room away from the elevator and challenged me because he said it wasn't in his notes, to the bad food and service in the one restaurant, to the old and tired quality of the room. This is definitely NOT the experience we expect and have always received from Ritz Carlton properties. We realized it was July 4th weekend, but having a DJ blasting music from both levels and a tiny pool overcrowded with people, to having to wait at leasts 30 minutes for a server to acknowledge that we were even seated, made for a terrible birthday trip for my husband. It was a 10 hour car ride because of a flat tire, so by the time we arrived, we expected a lovely and relaxing experience. We got just the opposite and said to each other that we will never return to this property. I can't believe that this is the way RC wants to present itself, but we left knowing that this will be our last time there. Come on Ritz Carlton, someone needs to take notice and make the changes you so desperately need here. Read less

Booked spa services at the Ritz Sarasota during vacation. Previously visited the Spa at the Ritz in Orlando where the experience was exceptional. Ritz Sarasota Spa was subpar at best. Even the spa at the Orlando Hilton was a much better experience then the Sarasota Ritz Carlton. The jacuzzi was not available, the amenities included a small sauna and even smaller healing room that they barely got working a day ago. The relaxation waiting room was right as you entered the spa with constant traffic. No warm blankets, no aromatherapy wraps while you wait, just a dirty chaise. The service staff was nice but the manager was very passive aggressive and refused to make any adjustments or provide any level of customer service when we were very dissatisfied with the condition of the spa or so called amenities. Would definitely not recommend. Read less

The staff at the Ritz is Amazing. Very focused on fulfilling what you want. The staff are very friendly and want you to have an enjoyable stay. Rooms are really nice. I met the General Manager. He is incredible. Very helpful. The Ritz is a great place to stay. I have spent 150 nights there. Feels like home.

After staying at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando, this was a very underwhelming experience. Upon arrival, there's a dirty/blackish stone walkway into the building and old oudated green/orange marble in lobby. Check in process took over 10 minutes for what should've been straight forward. Game room is not a game room - theres a pool table and foozeball. Pool at the property is 3ft deep so it goes up to your waist. Only one restaurant. Floors in the hallways are FILTHY. Outside of the windows in our suite are filthy where you can't see out them. The club lounge experience with Mark was great and refreshing relief. The manager Rachel was very passive aggressive with the staff and at times, just blatantly rude and condescending. Shuttle bus to the beach was nice. Driver was attentive. Beach service was par. Staff at both the beach and hotel were attentive and sincere. We had genuine conversations with them, as well as the bellman and doormen. No acting or phoniness which we appreciate. Overall - I don't see the value and won't be returning to this property. Read less
