MOLD AMD MILDEW ISSUES BEWARE

I noticed a strong sour smell that was may have been from a damp environment causing musty and moldy smells in the air. I noticed a strong sour smell that was may have been from a damp environment causing musty and moldy smells in the air. It was extremely pungent so I would run ac down and the smell at least got better. However, I would cough each night because throat was irritated!! During the day wasn't a problem when I was outside of my hotel room. I worked out and felt ok. BUT. The last night I coughed all night. I checked out, flew home and got bronchitis. I do have an actual mold allergy but don't expect it in a hotel room. I am on meds now and sitting around sick so I googled "JW MARRIOTT MOLD AND MILDEW IN ROOMS" Yep! Bingo!! Many, many complaints!! I just returned from a wonderful stay at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes. The hotel is conveniently located about 20 minutes from the airport and the hotel offers many things to do for the entire family. I found the room very spacious and well thought out. I was on the 23rd floor and the room contained a sectional couch with table, along with a desk and chair. The bathroom also was pretty spacious with a separate soaking tub. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. In addition to the beautiful grounds with pools, flora, fountains, I also enjoyed a couple of the restaurants I tried. I had a very tasty burger at the Kitchen and a very good Mahi Mahi sandwich at Knife Burger. I also enjoyed taking advantage of the fitness center which offered a variety of new exercise equipment. Doesn’t care for their guests!

My boyfriend, dog and I came to evacuate from the hurricane. I was walking with my senior dog in the lobby near the lobby bar and both my dog and I fell on the hard floor and completely wiped out. My boyfriend, dog and I came to evacuate from the hurricane. I was walking with my senior dog in the lobby near the lobby bar and both my dog and I fell on the hard floor and completely wiped out. Turns out the roof was leaking in that spot and the hotel employees were well aware of the leak before the hurricane even started. As I laid on the floor no one came to help besides one man. I severely hit my right knee and was bleeding and swelling set in instantly. The man who helped me and my dog up was angry that the hotel didn’t have this area blocked off as it was a large area that everyone has to walk through and it was visibly wet. He went to the front desk to complain as did I. The only response I was met with was “oh I’m sorry that happened to you” Had JW blocked off that high traffic area that was clearly being leaked on by your faulty roof I would have not fallen. Later my boyfriend went down to complain about their dismissive response and they brought me a ice pack… Still not acknowledging that they solely were responsible for me Injuring myself and my dog! The next morning I hobbled down to the front desk and was met with the manager who again just apologized and gave me a single $40 comp for breakfast for JUST ME even though I clearly had not come alone. This place knowingly knew they had water leaks in a highly congested area yet they can’t even put up a “wet floor” sign or keep on top of it to keep that area blocked off. This is plain negligence! The manager and employees response was cold and unprofessional. We asked them to file an incident report which I’m sure they did not do! Absolutely disgusted by the lack of responsibility taken by JW Marriott Grande Lakes. We paid THOUSANDS to have somewhere safe to go to escape the hurricane and this is how they treat guests! Cannot wait to hobble out of this hotel for good! Read less

We had a few hiccups with the Marriott app and our two rooms but nothing the staff weren’t able to work around. I had a weird issue where one of the two rooms booked kept having the dates amended which was odd. The hotel saw the correct dates though. I want to thank the late night check in staff who helped us while our incoming flight was delayed by Hurricane Helene. They checked us in quickly to get us in the room despite not being able to formally take payment details up front (system update late at night). The next morning the staff efficiently properly checked us in and the valet was shockingly efficient. The rooms were very clean, well appointed and we had a nice view overlooking the pools and golf course/lake. Avery and Valeria were great and did what they could to fix the app issues. Whisper Creek Farms had great vegetarian options and the food and service were excellent. The lobby bar lacked vegetarian options and had sorta weak service but the management team followed up and actually cared about my feedback. Also, budget to go to the spa. It was a wonderful facility. Will definitely return! Read less
