Margaritaville Resort Orlando

We just got back from our stay. We rented a 2 bedroom cottage with a pool through v-stays. We did not realize it was through them until we got there. V-stays does not have housekeeping at all. You get 2 bath sets per bathroom and 4 towels for the pool. The pool towels are very small and thin. The cottage was nice, beds were comfortable, fridge was huge, coffee maker did not work. The pool at the cottage was very warm and did not have chlorine in it. It did have some algae and you are responsible for cleaning the pool. I don't think we would rent again. Some cottages can be rented through the owner which seems like the way to go. The pools at the hotel we very warm and when it is 110 heat index you do not want a warm pool. The activities at the hotel are less than average. The Polynesian night says it is from 630 to 830 pm but it is 730 to 745pm so we missed it. Bartenders at Salty Rim were not friendly, didn't have the tvs on. The whole pool bar scene was very disappointing. We only ate at the Salty Rim and it was good. The pool area does have bags and ping pong. We found out we could use the pool next door at the embassy suites, which we did everyday, water much cooler, activities more fun and it was not packed so we spent all out pool days there. Overall, the main hotel is pretty, cottages are nice and cozy but there were too many negative things to return. Read less

Cottage 8165 not enough space for 13 to eat. Enough bedrooms for all. No hot water in sinks. Horrible communication over any issue. Had to deal with 18 Y-old at desk as manager afraid to meet with us - pathetic (Miguel - 18 Y-old was great). Ice didn't work, half of toaster worked. Nobody came for pool (wanted it tested - green tint) Cockroach in room - wouldn't spray due to some license issue?? Internal transportation was very good. Amazing hotel…did have some slight issues over the booking and when we added an additional night prior to coming it changed the price for the whole trip…amazing front desk staff was there to help us and sorted it out properly…we stayed in a King bedroom suite on the 4th floor…needed the room as we were going to a bunch of mountain bike parks…Suite was very spacious and accommodating. The only thing we didn’t like is that there was no shower door. Views were amazing, relaxing..we booked again at the end of July and can’t wait to come back. Read less

We stayed here as a family and weren’t impressed with the customer service at all! I understand the “laid back holiday” feeling they are trying to give but the staff were very unhelpful on reception. Cared more about the company than the customer! We stayed in the cottages and the beds are about 4ft off the floor with hard flooring. This meant if my 2 year old rolled out of the bed there would definitely had been some damage! Rang reception to ask for a cot (play pack) which code us an extra $10……… 2 hours later nothing had arrived…… phoned back again with long wait on the phone for someone to answer…….. was told it wasn’t on the system and they would send one now…….. one arrived but with no linen so had to wait again for that. When opening the cot it had a huge rip in the side and wasn’t suitable to use. Rang back again and they sent another one……. This one was filthy with dirty stains and a huge stain where our little ones head would be- yuck! Ended up sleeping in the beds with the kids and holding onto them all night so they didn’t fall off the bed! Next day went into reception and was there for 40 minutes waiting to be seen and to speak to some one. Person wasn’t very apologetic at all and said it would be taken off the account. Communication skills were shocking, made me feel like I was the inconvenience! On checkout we got charged for the cot after going in and speaking to someone on the desk at the beginning! The person serving us on checkout hardly spoke to us and just grunted now and again. We said we weren’t paying for the cot as hadn’t used it, he just walked off into an office behind the desk without saying anything! Was gone for ages and then when eventually came back was questioning me on what the previous person on the desk looked like who I had spoken to me about the cot! Asking me to describe what he looked like! We reminded him that something like that is a staffing issue and shouldn’t be questioning their customer to describe what their staff look like! He then walked off back into the office without saying anything and after about half hour we had to ask someone else what was happening!!! When he returned to desk he quietly said that it hadn’t been taken off the account but the job to pick up the cot was on the system! So I questioned if the customer was even important to them. Which he didn’t even bother responding to! After being there for 45mins he agreed to take the cot off our bill! What a way to spend our last day on holiday! We asked to speak to a manager as we weren’t happy at all with the service we have received and were informed no one was around! We had to ask for an email address of someone we could raise our concerns with, he wrote down an email address but could hardly read the writing! There was a gentleman that worked for a different company within the foyer who saw all the above going on, when we left he apologised and said that “it use to be good here but it’s going down hill”. Not a good impression if other members of staff in other areas are noticing this! The resort was clean with good pools and nice pool bars. However the staff that work on the reception for the cottages need some training and be taught how to treat people! On check in we weren’t told any information about the resort and we had to even ask where the pool was! Very disappointing experience for us and don’t think we will be returning as it’s not the cheapest place to stay to be treated like that! We were made to feel like we were causing them work. I think Margaritaville need to change the sign above the doors “welcome to paradise” as the reception staff did not make it feel like paradise but just one big stressful vacation! Read less
