The hotel

A sure family favourite, Disney's Pop Century celebrates fads of the 1950s through to the 90s. There's something for everyone here - you'll love the themed pools, complete with water jets, and you can dine in a relaxed fashion at the food court. When the night rolls around, enjoy movies under the stars, or head to the games arcade for an evening of laughs before heading to your room. And when you're ready to hit the parks, hop on the Skyliner, a gondola that gives you amazing birds-eye views while taking you to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios.

We stayed in Pop Century Resort for 2 weeks and found the location extremely handy. The buses are a bit annoying and can take a while to load but the Skyliner is fantastic. Queue at closing moves quickly (so long as there's no lightning within 3 miles) and we really enjoyed the relaxing cable car journeys over the cramped loud buses. The room was comfortable with everything you need from a hotel room - bed, bathroom, drawers, fridge, coffee machine, TV. It is relatively basic but when you're spending days in the parks, it's enough as a place to crash and recover. We had a car, which would could park freely at the resort and we also got free parking at the parks if we needed it, although the transportation options were sufficient for us with the exception of not being able to get to Disney Springs direct from the resort. The hotel was very clean, good housekeeping, and pool area nice too. The shop means you can grab some of the merch early/late in your trip and the staff in the resort were all great. We only ate at the resort once, eating in Springs or in parks the rest of the time. The food was ok but limited as the food court is currently being refurbished, but Art of Animation isn't far away if you needed more options. We weren't sure about the theming beforehand but actually really enjoyed the outdoor theming and the grown up simplicity of the rooms (was worried we'd end up with a garish bright room that was difficult to sleep in but was pleasantly surprised). We really have no complaints about Pop Century and will happily return next time we visit Disney in 3-4 years time. I think this exceeded our expectations as we were expecting a more basic set up but we were pleasantly surprised. Read less

Really disappointed with this hotel. The food court is not fit for purpose, reduced seating, online order only and a complete shambles. I don’t think the staff have got an order right our entire stay. We have ended up walking over to art of animation to eat. A friend in our group slipped on the wet stairs coming down one morning, reported to front desk but apart from quickly making sure signage was put out(none before when she fell) really couldn’t care less. She is covered in bruises and was really lucky she didn’t hit her head. Disney are cutting corners, small towels, cheap toilet paper, housekeeping every other day. Skyliner is great if it works but a pain if it doesn’t. Would not return Read less

What a Disney disappointment. This was a budget hotel at Disney world at exorbitant rates. we booked a wheelchair accessible room but it was so small it could hardly accommodate the wheelchair. It didn’t provide a turn around for the chair and it was impossible to fit wheelchair and guest in the shower. We called about the room and we were told that all handicapped room are the same. The other issue is that guests are required to use the skyliner to two different parks. The wait time is often 30 to 60 minutes whereas buses are usually boarded immediately. The food court was closed and you had to use mobile order. This was not a magical experience! Let the buyer beware before you book this type of trip Read less

Desk Supervisor Dominique rudely told me guests were emailed about this, absolutely not true in my case. This holiday 5 years in the making, has been changed completely - Disney are completely corporate in focus, anyone who expects different be prepared. Nothing offered by way of compensation at all, for much reduced service. Haughtily advised me that other guests were signing up to pay and stay full rate with all the disruptions so why was I asking for special treatment? Unbelievable. Read less

Stayed 3-days at the 90’s building 8 with two kids = total three people. Waited 20 minutes to checkin. It was hard to find our building especially after staff member told us to look for pink building. Well…. it was blue building. We got a ground level room. First thing I noticed was that the bathroom had only one soap bar. They never added more. We also found only 2 packets of sugar, two chairs, stained towels. On our second day in the room the staff came in knocking to ask if we were “ready to move out”. I said NO, we are here for 3 days….it appears that number 2 was a magic number for them. So, my rating is 2 stars only. Read less
