The hotel

Designed to reflect the old times of Jerusalem with the new, a stay here might just feed your cultural expectations and your city desires in one go. Think traditional architecture, natural limestone interior and earthy tones. Plus a fabulous rooftop restaurant, Espresso bar and urban spa. It’s close enough to experience the Old City and Alrov Mamilla Avenue during the day, and for dinner the Happy Fish Restaurant comes highly recommended. Why not dine out on the terrace and soak up the local atmosphere?

I love the hotel, from the amazing relaxing scent as you enter the hotel, to the attentive professional staff, comfortable room, great gym and facilities and off course the great location. You cannot beat the location as it's just steps away through the Mamilla Mall to reach the Jaffa Gate of the Old City. It's also central to most things you'll be doing in Jerusalem (eg 15 min walk to Machane Yehuda, 10 min to Ben Yehuda Street, 5 minutes to Ha'atzmauot Park and 7 minutes to Old City. It's also central to most things you'll be doing in Jerusalem (eg 15 min walk to Machane Yehuda, 10 min to Ben Yehuda Street, 5 minutes to Ha'atzmauot Park and 7 minutes to Old City. The hotel is modern and still fresh even though it's about 15 years old. I stayed in a suite which was an impulse upgrade when I checked in. I figured why not spend the extra $ if I can look out at the Old City at any time of day from my window/balcony. The room was cozy and welcoming with modern fixtures. Two TV sets (one remote oddly so both TVs would turn on each time and turn channels - super odd), sitting area for around 9 people and a see through bathroom with frosted glass at the flop of a switch. Note that this could be somewhat odd if a family stayed here as although the frost provides privacy, it's just a bit too modern rather than functional. Wifi was good, not great and the AC worked really well. Although I was promised a view of the Old City, I actually was only able to see the rampart and flags of Jaffa Gate yet the Zara fairly clearly - thats a bummer as I wish they were more honest at the front desk when I checked in. The employee even told me he's personally check to move me to a higher floor but all I got was crickets and no response the next day. My room was on the 4th floor at the end of the hallway. Breakfast was good but I've had better and more options. The floor staff need better training as I had to flag each down for juice and coffee (their main responsibility). The staff were fair at best - they need better follow through. I loved staying here - mostly for the location but I did enjoy the hotel itself. Good security and a modern fresh experience. Always love coming to Jerusalem - the greatest city in the world. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating What a disaster.... 20 years of veganism down the drain

What a total disaster... The hotel was nice enough, but when we went for breakfast (My partner is vegan) we asked for vegan options and were told that they had no vegan cheeses, pastries etc and they did it in a VERY rude way. Then they advised that one of the cakes was vegan so my partner ate the cake only to then be told that actually it wasn't vegan it was gluten free. This meant my partner ate non vegan food against her will for the first time in 20 years.... Not only that but she was sick for the entire day meaning we spent most of the trip in the hotel room. Further more, she is obviously very upset that she ate something with eggs in it as a vegan. I contacted the hotel the next day and all I got was a half hearted apology and an offer of free breakfast (midweek) or a room upgrade. The entire trip was ruined, their response was disgraceful and it shows a total lack of respect and understanding for anyone with any dietary preferences. I am not taking legal advice with a view to reclaim the cost of the trip, legal fees and additional compensation. The minimum should have been a full apology and a full refund. I will never return to that hotel again. Read less
