Where is it

Set on its own 900m stretch of private shoreline, on Jumeirah Beach, alongside Dubai Marina and a 5-minute walk to Marina Walk and JBR walk. Emirates Golf Club and The Montgomerie golf course are a short drive away. Walkable distance from the newly built Mina Seyahi tram station. Transfer time from Dubai International Airport: 35 minutes.

We have just returned from staying at the Westin. We are a family of two adults and two children aged 7 and 10. We were also travelling with another family ( two adults and three children) who have been to the hotel twice before. We were staying at the hotel with all inclusive - we were told nothing about what facilities or restaurants we could use when checking in. Our room we were given wasn't the one we had booked and paid for, we did query this and this was rectified after 48hours. We had to phone for glasses 5 times over three days as there was none in the room. We were moved to a suite three nights before we departed which was beautiful and our room attendant Mohammed Sagor was amazing - never short of glasses! He was always going about with a smile and asking if he could be of assistance. We felt the reception staff could do with some training and not just fob people off with "yes, I will get that seen too" we are on holiday and my job on holiday isn't to chase up incompetent staff. Everyday we were greeted by Madhu Nerella. He is an asset to your company - always so helpful and remembered our order every day. He always had a smile on his face even working in the extreme heat. Well where do I start ! We Came to the westin for 10 days As a family of 7. On the half board for adults and all inclusive for the kids. Think they call it the dine around package. This was our 7th time in Dubai , but first time at the Westin, we usually stay on the palm, but thought would be nice and easier to get around with the kids being next to the marina. We arrived early hours and check in was great ,they even gave us garden rooms as they were ready, which was an upgrade from our previous booking. Which were fab modern and spacious .. The hotel grounds and pools were all lovely clean and modern also. This issue we had was communication, and it was a very big daily issue , that ended up making our holiday not relaxing but frustrating every single day we was there. It all started when we went for dinner that night, in mina restaurant , they said we was only eligible for food on one room. So my husband had to to go to reception and see araf, who assured us that the details were now all up to date and the restaurant should have the right info . Until the next day at breakfast , we got questioned again !! And then at dinner !! And every single day we went for food after that !! They also said the kids weren’t on all inclusive and can’t have soft drinks at breakfast , just the juice that was out. Which wasn’t correct either ,as they are entitled to whatever they like. This was a daily constant battle running up and down to reception , to be told it’s all correct on the system, But the all the staff in minas never seemed to see that , and we ended up feeling like we was trying to pull a fast one everyday, having to explain ourselves and being made to feel like criminals . It was shocking and so disappointing for what’s meant to be a 5 star resort . We also went to do the non motorised water sports ,which was in our package for free, But got told we needed to pay for it, So back to reception we went again! To show them our booking email ,(which stated water sports ) included to then be told we needed to contact emirates for them to let us have it on email from them . Which then took emirates a few days to get back and confirm. By this time we was going home in two days, So missed 7 days of potentially doing more water sports . They then gave us full board for the adults for the last two days, to try and compensate for this absolute mess we’ve had to endure. So we decided to go barasti for the last night to grab a burger, To be told the kids couldn’t have drinks in the all inclusive package again, We then waited 40 mins for drinks and food , while 4 staff were all scrabbling around and making phone calls to find out what our package was. Disgusting and shocking ! Never ever have we been treated this way before, especially not in Dubai, Where there customer service is usually out of this world, hence why we love coming away there for a luxury getaway. We met some lovely families who also had some similar issues. My husbands dolce and gabbanna sunglasses also got stolen from around the kids pool, Just to make a disastrous holiday even more disastrous Restaurants we tried in hotel Barasti - was nice burgers but after our long wait , my appetite had gone, The steak house was beautiful and delicious . Minas was ok, but not a huge selection and very quiet in the evenings . Some positives after my huge rant Pools were great, Beach was lovely Rooms were gorge and cleaners really attentive , The pool attendants near the lazy river pool, We’re really attentive and friendly also, But the constant battle for the 10days with our package, will be why would never return to this hotel, We were made to feel like criminals ! I would recommend going to anantara, Sofitel on the palm or Rixos , For anyone that wants a nicer experience . I’m still so shocked and disappointed from this experience as said previously mentioned , have never experienced anything quite like this mess Read less

Fernando was so helpful every single morning and helped lay our sun beds out. Very friendly and gave some great advice on the resort. Also gave us more than required for the kids to dry off when they left the pool every time. He is a credit to the hotel
