W Abu Dhabi - Yas Island

We booked the W Yas Island for two weeks at the end of October and it really did not disappoint. Such a memorable trip made even more special by the warmth and spectularity of this hotel. Where to start the hotel is an absolutely stunning piece of architecture. The art deco interiors really give it the edgy vibe. The rooms were a great size we booked a wonderful room but we're pleasantly surprised upon arrival when we were upgraded to a spectacular room with a great view of the marina and the race track. The Room: We had a twin room. The room had a nice sized balcony. There was a good amount of storage (I don't travel lightly so I wouldn't have complained if there was an extra cupboard or set of drawers). We had a wonderful set up with rose petals and a little cake to welcome which was great. Lighting was very nice too good for getting ready. It's also worth mentioning we had a stunning view of the sunset from our room too. Thr bathroom had a speerate bath tub and shower and the toilet was seperated too within the bathroom. The only thing i felt it lacked abit of privacy as it was access through slidinng doors which were partially frosted glass. House keeping were great through out we requested a couple of extra towels and hangers and everything arrived quite quickly. They were so polite and always did an excellent job making up our room. Breakfast: We booked b&b and it did not disappoint so many options. The garage restaurant has a live cooking station in the middle so you can see everything cooked fresh infront of you. There was such a vast choice.the fruit station was my favourite always fresh and sweet. There's a nice little yoghurt station too and a nice variety of pastries. What made the breakfast so memorable for us were the staff. Every morning we came down we were treated like royalty. The staff would always come over to have chat ask us how we were, speak with my young daughter about how she was enjoying her self which was so nice because she really felt included in our conversations. They were constantly on hand for any requests we had so just an extra special mention to Andrei and his team, Zachariel, Ehalith, Kevin, Bimala, Hussein on the juice station and the two hostesses who used to welcome us every morning. I wish I could have gotten the names of all the waiters and waitresses who helped us because the service and warmth from the team really blew me away. The Roastery Cafe Really lovely little cafe at the front of the hotel with a very nice peaceful seating area outside and great coffee and pastries. I had some lovely conversations with the manager here a really lovely lady who's name again I wasn't able to get. But really nice setting if you don't fancy the restaurant. Kids club My daughter absolutely loved the kids club. She adored Meera and the other lady with the glasses who worked there and they did so well to keep her busy. It was very clean and seemed well structured. The only thing which I found abit off was the kids club was chargeable after two hours. We didn't really have a need to leave her there any longer but there were a couple of days where we found ourselves rushing to get back to collect her before the chargeable period started. Needless to say my little one lived the kids club and really looked forward to going. The gym Amazing gym. The cardio equipment is facing the marina so it's absolutely stunning going for a run with such a great view. It was very clean it wasn't particularly busy when we'd go and the personal trainer was very nice and polite. Sauna and steam rooms again very clean and well maintained and the towels were really nice and fluffy too. Location The location of the W is everything. There is a shuttle that takes you to the mall and the parks and it's also about 15minute walk to Yas Bay where there are a few nice restaurants and also a supermarket which is handy. Cabs come quite frequently but it's worth downloading one of the cab apps like yango as it can be difficult getting one during busy periods. The only thing to note is given you're overlooking the race course it can get quite noisy. There was one night where the cars were going past midnight and even with the doors closed you could still hear it. Also the beds in the twin rooms are singles. Some hotels offer small double beds which would have been abit more comfortable but we managed fine the pillows were fluffy and the mattress was good too. Overall I would love to stay at the W again. It's a spectacular hotel but what really makes it is the people who work here. Never have i stayed somewhere where I have felt so welcome and so comfortable it was like home away from home. We felt slightly emotional leaving this time round but this stay really has made us want to come back and stay here again. Read less

Not even sure where to start with this hotel. I’m writing this on our last evening here and I have never been so sad to leave a hotel before. We usually holiday in Dubai in November but decided on a change. This hotel has to be one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in and for context we have at some wonderful ones. The arrival was very smooth, we had notified the hotel in advance we would arrive early as we had an overnight flight into Dubai. The hotel is very impressive to look at when you drive in, our baggage was taken from us so we didn’t have to hold on to it whilst we checked in. Check in was smooth and our room was ready, we had an upgrade to a spectacular room. Our room was sun the main building overlooking both the marina and the Grand Prix circuit , the view was stunning. We found out when we arrived that the adult pool was closed for a few days so we headed to the sun deck which is the family pool. Staff were very lovely. Breakfast at the hotel is very busy but the most extensive breakfast buffet I have ever come across you name it they have it. Food is of a very high standard and the servers work so hard and are so friendly. The hotel gives free tickets to Yas Beach we went to the beach on a couple of days and it was fantastic, great little beach with full bar and food service. Most days we used the Wet Deck for the pool once it reopened this is a fantastic pool and the staff are amazing. The wet deck has a happy hour from 5-8pm so we went there in the evening for a few drinks. After dinner we went tk the W Lounge all the staff were amazing but we would like to mention nan (I’m sure o haven't spent her name correctly) she was a wonderful employee and looked after us so well. Tonight we decided to eat the the Garage restaurant and we are so annoyed we didn’t try it before our last night . This place is fantastic. We will 100% come back to this hotel. Read less
